speaking of excellent front men, I have to brag alittle. I have front row tix for next friday to see Cheap Trick and Joan Jett. Robin Zander in my book is one of the best vocalist and front men on the planet! CT is also an Illinois band:) Can't wait! Me luvs Robin and Rick!

BIckler is making a fortune singing -Real men of genius for Budweiser I think. I would love to see him with Jim & Jimi. I am glad those that those two are planning an album. Frankie is easily replaced !!!!!

:D Baywatch is in syndication . Jimi must be getting paid well again for I'm Always Here. If you think about it Jimi's voice and song was heard by billions of people for like 11 years .Nobody seems to mention this .. Baywatch was the number 1 tv show for a decade plus and Jimi performed and co-wrote one of the most instant songs in television history..

I am happy for Dave Bickler .. I think Dave got a raw deal from Frankie . I wonder if he ever played live shows without Survivor post his firing. I am unsure of his career in music post Survivor .. I like the commercials a lot.

Peterik & Jamison recording a new cd is a dream come true to me.. Just listening to the samples of tunes makes you understand that the magic is still there . They don't need that over produced overdubbed guitar sound .

Hey guys...let me know if any of you get a chance to compare Dave's ending in Search to Jimi's on Extended Versions (or any other live)...

Dave just hits that song...nobody can touch it...

Hey Bulldog,

We have discussed this in the past. I once spoke to JJ and he and Frankie both joked about Jamison going out to his mail box everyday to pick up his royalty check. This was a huge song but I don't think it charted in the states. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I want to be accurate.

Zander is great in concert. Rockford (CT's most recent cd) is an overlooked gem.

It was released as a single in 1999 in Germany (the re-recorded version) but not as big as I could be back in 1994. So the benefits could come "only" from the TV-show...

Cheap Trick and Joan Jett were awesome Friday. Here is a pic from my camera phone:
Image

I was right in front of Rick! He had a different guitar for every song. He had my girlfriend and I crackin up! What a nut! and what a guitar player! He threw a pile of guitar picks at me, I have 7! LOL! Robin was hiding under that Brett Micheals hat but still has the voice, wow! They are going on tour with Journey and Heart this summer, what a package that will be. I'm going to catch them in Chicago in September. Joan, wow, she was hot! she's 50 and looks 25! But she's had lots of nips and tucks, still a tuff rocker chick!

here's a slide show I found: http://www.flickr.com/photos/12828540@N ... 6704/show/

I didn't take these but I was right in front of that square box thing, so I couldn't see Bun E. all night. They did have some sound difficulties all night. I guess their sound guy got hurt and there was a buzzing in the amps which was really annoying and I guess the farther up you went in the hall, the louder it got but it was perfect where I was at. This was their first show out in a longgggg time so hey, they were forgiven. Also, I guess Rick made a comment about Kevin Cronin's performance on Don't forget the Lyrics Thursday night on how bad it was. That didn't sit well with the Champaign crowd since Reo is considered their hometown band but hey it was sooooooo true. Kevin's voice is shot, has been for a long time.

When did Dave Carl play with Survivor? Was he on vocals or guitar?

Anyway, the best potential lineup in my opinion would be:

Jim Peterik
Marc Doubay
Dennis Johnson
Dave Bichler and Jimi Jamison
and for legal reasons :P Frankie Sullivan

Ya know, I have found that I prefer the Bickler-era, but I gotta say that it would be a total coup if the band were to reform with Jim, Frankie, Dave AND Jimi. Sort of like the Sam and Dave Tour that happened several years ago. You truly get the best of both worlds...

I don't see this kind of reformation happening. Two things on that front. Dave seems perfectly happy with what he's doing. 2nd Robin is performing to the original keys.

I wish people would just give Robin a chance. Give him one album and go so him live just once.

Slander, in all fairness I've been trying to give it a chance for two years....

So far all i have to go by is one boot where Frankie feels the need to scream over him out of tune the entire show...

Another short boot with suspect sound....three over dubs and a lip synce perforance on DWTS.

I mean (and please, I'm not wanting to fight) what kind of chance can we give him?

Look, I'm fine with the fact he's differnet. I used the Jon Corabi reference early. That is 100 percent fine if you are going to put out new material. But if all you are doing is touring around sporadically and singing the old stuff, you need to get somoone who can cover the material in a similiar vein.

If they did a new album, their tour would need to be the new stuff with Tiger, Search and maybe one other old song (Take You on a Saturday) or something thrown in. Much like Van Hagar tours....I could be fine with that. Don't you see my point?

Exactly, if we'd just get a new Survivor album with McDifferent, I'd be all in!!!

Come on, 2 years ago at his advent we were told they would commence recording the follow up to Reach that fall.

I think the casual fan just doesn't bother too much. They have a good time, enjoy the performance and lately Survivor with Robin have played very tight, MUCH better than 2006.

Unfortunately, now without going on tour bands just don't make enough on CD sales. I've heard (yes, I know we're heard it all before) that McSurvivor  has plenty of songs for a new album but unable to find time to record. We may have to resign ourselves the fact that as long as Survivor make a living on the road enough for them, a new album is quite unlikely.

Hey Eye was it an energy and chesmistry thing the last time you saw them. That's the way I felt back then. Kinda going through the motions. I hate to say that.

In hindsight we can attribute that to bad in-band vibes.

well i saw them...it was hot as hell, there could not have been four people listening...they were sandwiched in between Edwin McCain and Loverboy...

Just a bad deal all the way around....JJ really struggled...I'll never forget when he got down with 'Seach', he said and quote ...'man that sucker is hard to sing.".....FS had a 30 minute solo to the point that dunaway was making fun of him almost, because the four people who were listening were starting to boo...it was just sad...then they all hoped on some Shinook looking thing and drove away...my wife still laughs at me about it today...

That sucks. I've never seen them that awful. I have seen JJ struggle but JJ at 70 percent is still pretty damn good.

i did really like the song selection...including summer nights....

i think awful might be a stretch, but it was just the heat of the day and nobody, including the band was very into it...that's all...

I will certainly give them a chance if/when a new CD comes out. My comment was based solely on the fact that nostalgia is a big seeler and if the band were able to pull that off the buzz on the original vocalists for all the Survivor hits would be huge. I understand that it is as likely as Perry returning to Journey.
