New Lawsuit...

RIP Frankie's Playtoy

I'm staying away from commenting about the lawsuit.

However, I really do wish Survivor was more about music rather than band lineup changes and lawsuits the past 15 or so years.

Again, Slander before you jump on me…I’m just asking opinion…I understand what the ‘court’ says, but the every judgment of a court isn’t always that of popular opinion…etc…

Eye, I'm not going to jump at you at all. You make perfect sense. As you know I'm a Bickler guy through and through. DB is what Survivor was all about. Gritty, edgy, ominous. His voice fit perfectly with the name of band called "Survivor." The name alone "Survivor" lends itself to being tough. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Robin live. I think Mcauley captures the Survivor sound well on songs like "Fire Makes Steel" and "Eye of The Tiger." Survivor is more than a voice to me, it is also musicianship. When I last saw them last in 2007. it was Robin, Frankie, Chris, Billy, and Marc. They sounded great. You can't replace the musicianship. I guess what I'm saying in a round about way is that the Survivor sound is more than just the vocalist. It is collective. Seeing JJ solo without FS, Droubay & company is not Survivor. It doesn't come close to sounding the same. That is not a slam on JJ at all. He is a great vocalist.

Robin does a GREAT job live....he jumped into a band that had 2 of the BEST singers EVER in melodicrock.....now, who of you would like that responsibility!!!!...Yikes.....size 45 shoes my man.....JV

To get back on topic.....did anyone catch sullivan boasting about the lawsuit on the survivor bulletboard? Seems to be real proud of himself.

No one caught it because there was no "boasting" as you call it.

If you say so ty....guess it's up to each ones interpetation. Seemed like he was all proud of himself to me. But do have a question for you.....why do you keep ressurecting old threads in an effort to bury the lawsuit thread?
I think the tribe has spoken and I would say that most think it's a very petty bush league move to file a lawsuit to argue about the useage of the name in an ad advertising a CHARITY gig. Had it been done malisiously then i would have agreed to some extent. But I still stand by my comments......survivor isn't that big of a band, no matter what you want to believe...if they were, there'd be no problem with the name usage. case in point Everyone knows who's in the band KISS.....if someone books Ace Frehley to do a show, they(the fans) know that they aren't getting the band KISS. No matter what the ad says. Having said that, I really can't believe that you think that survivor is big enough that everyone or anyone, but the true die-hards have any clue who is or was in the band......past or present!! Just like Boston or Foreigner....nobody knows who's in either of those bands now or before except for Mick Jones and Tom Scholtz, and most would only know of Brad Delp due to his suicide a few years ago.
So please don't insult the intellegence of the people on here about intellectual property and all the mumbo jumbo about copyrights and who owns the name etc....we don't care. What we do care about however is doing the right thing. You say, in response to comments about talking to the offender etc, that maybe sullivan already exhausted those options. Are you inside the inner circle of sullivan inc? Of course you aren't and given his penchant for filing lawsuits I feel pretty safe when I say that he probably never even went down that road.Regardless, common sense needs to play a part in all of it. If they had billed it as Jimi Jamison singing the hits of survior that he made famous...would that have been ok?
Look the guy needs to use some common sense and lose the bitterness towards his former bandmates over whatever is eating him.
As evident by the comments made to the person who ask about a one-off reunion concert with the former members and then bringing out Jimi and McCauley and have them do the stuff they sang on. NOt a bad idea except that sullivan spewed venom at that person, not to mention the comments to the poster when he/she questioned the use of the word "project" in a post. Sullivan blasted the person and then blasted this board also.....real nice fan friendly guy there.......

The tribe, as in your ilk? Of course FS was critical of this board. He's been called ever name in the book? Do you expect him to heep praise?

Out of everything I said....this is all you can comment on Ty?? Tells me that the majority of my comments hit home. Not to mention they have some truth and validity to them.

Yes Red he spewed venom at people on there......not exactly what you'd expect from "keepin' it positive sullivan"...quite out of character.....or is it?? Is it possible that we are seeing the sullivan who caused band members to become "former" band members??? Far be it for me to say.

Oh and Ty in the name of good puncuation......even though a journalist such as yourself doesn't need to be told this.....Frankie has been called every name in the book on here...not ever.

Oh and one more thing TY...Do I expect sullivan to heap praise......no just "keep it positive.' as is his mantra.......or is it..Do as I say,not as I do

Five things:

1. Red has been a member on the SBB and I think he would say that "spewed venom" is nothing but hyperbole on your part axe.
2. Frankie has been called many negatives on the board. I'm not going to list them.
3. If your going to accuse me of bad punctuation.....AT LEAST SPELL THE WORD RIGHT YOURSELF! Ironic.
4. FS does keep it positive but he does have a right to defend himself from character assassination. Or can't you take rebuttal?
5. What is your obsession with Sullivan? You act like a 16 year-old girl ditched at the high school prom. Let it go man!

I disagree with you on Foreigner here. I think most fans know Kelly Hansen is not Lou Gramm. Kelly has his own following. Anyone showing up at a Foreigner show knows that Lou is not there anymore.

His character wasn;t assassinated there, Marcel was ironically taking a good natured jab at me eye and axe with our questioning the word "project" and said "Thanks for confirming it's an album and not just a project  " and Frankie went nuclear.

Frankie's character has been assassinated on the mr board many times. The only thing I was asking you RED is where has FS "spewed venom" on the Survivor BB? I mean really? WTF is axe talking about? You are on that board, where is this so called "spewed venom" he refers to?

OK so he goes DEFCON 5 on Marc for being happy to hear the verbage describing the album finally switch from vague untitled "project" to "album" and "new survivor cd" on the Survivor bullet board because his "character has (allegedly) been assassinated" here?

WTF? :?

And honestly myself, I've never seen him post with that kind of specific edge, it's usally the "positive," "forward-looking" stuff along with along with the cryptic "he has no agendas/ulterior motives" stuff when talking about his current knob turners and button pushers, so I chalked it up to him being upset @ the passing of the friend and gave him slack.

Well ty isn't it nice to see u back on here......let's take them one buy one shall we...

#1 I also am on that board, you just don't know who i am....don't believe me...ask Red as he knows my name on there
#2 Sullivan HAS been called many names on here by me.....everyone is entitled to their own opinion....mine is derived from personal experience and contact with him...yes ty I've hung out with and met him a number of times and he is an ego driven jerk.
#3 My post was done at 1 am after having been up for almost 21 hours straight and so I left out the "t". I truely believe that you meant yours as it was written.
#4 Trust me ty...I can take rebuttal and I think he has every right to defend himself.....I just think it's funny about his keeping it positive mantra and yet he felt the need to blast people on his own "positive" board. There's a difference between defending yourself and blasting someone for an innocent comment.Last I recall, no one said anything negative about him on that board, but yet he used it to blast someone about something, if he has a problem then let him come on here and say something. I'll have no problem listening to what he says and equally no problem asking him the tough questions that he won't answer.
#5 I have no obsession with sullivan, but it's funny you would use the very terms that some on here, myself included, would use to describe you concerning him. My thing is taking responsibility for your actions and in my opinion he has never done that ...Peterik leaves...must be Jim that was the problem. Jimi leaves and tells his story.....hmm...must be that Jimi is an idiot etc and sullivan is completely blameless...afterall 'cause you said so and sullivan never utters a peep. Please don't tell me that it's because he feels it's beneath him to even comment about those subjects because if that's the case then he looks like real jackass then for blasting a "fan" on a messege board then. And if he's all about defending himself from character assasination....wouldn't you call what JIMI said in the interview on this very site exactly that..character assasination? If so, then why didn't he defend himself on that subject? Or does he practice selective bravery and only address the subjects that he knows he will win and ignore the ones that put him in a bad light? So why does he go after a fan and his "assasination" but yet let jimi slide.........is there some truth in what Jimi said and he's hoping by ignoring it, it'll all go away? Guess the only one who knows won't talk about it.
So ty I'm not obcessed with sullivan...only the truth and consistancy...2 words that sullivan apparently doesn't like.

Ty that's fine to disagree...my opinion is that yes fans know who he is...his fans. Most Foreigner fans had no idea who he was before joining the band and the casual fan still has no clue who he is. Yes anyone showing up at a show knows Lou isn't there anymore(A shame in my opinion), but most probably have no idea who Kelly Hanson is except the diehards and the Kelly fans. Me personally...I saw the guy way back in 1987 fronting Hurricane with Carlos Cavazo's and Rudy Sarazo's brothers. Killer pipes back then and just as good now, just more defined now.
