Thank you! I'm glad to see that someone else is getting a bit tired of JP always starting his songs that way. I haven't read his "Songwriting For Dummies" book, but I have to assume that in the first chapter it says, "Every song should begin with a cymbal roll. This is the most important rule in song writing. If you want to vary things a bit, then replace the cymbal roll with a synthesizer cresdendo."

My issue with Reach was that most everything I liked on it was already done better on the FMS demos...10 years is a long time to wait for the material to just get worse...

"FMS" , "Seconds Away" and "I Don't" are so much better on FMS demos...

Also, the other material on the FMS Sessions not used on Reach, is some of the best stuff....

It's a shame with demos are so much more 'complete' than a 'released' album..

I never heard the demo version of "I Don't", so I can't compare it, but I always found it odd that JJ is singing the song to a man ("You're a difficult man and I don't understand the things you do.") I heard that the lyric is different on the demo version. I asked Frankie about that on the old Survivormusic.com forum, and his answer was something vague like, "It's all about just being in the moment."

I have mixed feelings about "Seconds Away." The demo version was a bit TOO raw, I think, but maybe the final version is too polished?

Dude that was weird...it was like JJ was breaking up with his boyfriend!

Maybe he was singing the lyrics to FS! I guess not, he's back...

I like Seconds Away (yes its raw) much more on the FMS...

But I won't lie, I like dave much more on vox...

Clearly this tune as well as FMS were written with Dave in mind. It's a effing shame FMS wasn't released as a single on aor radio with Dave on vocals. As fas as I'm concerned that song rivals tiger and that's saying something. It's that gritty street sound that Stallone loved about Survivor in the first place. JJ does a nice job on Reach, but it's a little to smooth for my taste.

I've never viewed "I Don't" as being about the break-up of a romantic-relationship. To me it's more about someone who's fed-up with all of the lies and backstabbing that has come from someone that they know. Even though the lyrics to the song were NOT written by Peterik or Jamison, ironically, I have always thought that it's the type of thing that Jamison, Bickler and Peterik might say to Sullivan.

is this..uhmm...reunion somehow linked to the Rocky musical production set up by Stallone?
I mean, in the sense that they feel it might be business time again, at least in some market. The musical is starting in Germany november next year, and that (ridicoulos) "worldwide" tour title on survivormusic.com might actually refer to touring Germany in the same period. By the way, JJ solo dates are set for a German tour early next year

I for one am suspicious with JJ doing a lot of solo touring. I mean if we are doing this Survivor thing, let's do it. I'm all for JJ do his own thing, but like I said this whole thing smells of JJ doing is own thing and then touring with the band when convenient. Man how I hope I'm wrong.

Didn't Bickler write "I Don't?"

As for JJ tour dates, no more than Surivor does I would say he would have time to tour on his on, be in Survivor, front Van Halen and run two bars in Memphis...[/code]

Yes. Without checking the credits, I do believe that Bickler and Sullivan wrote "I Don't."

I agree...it was brought up here when the album came out too...that is sounded like the lyric was directed at Frankie...

Been done before...Look no further than The Stones' Beast Of Burden for messages from certain bandmembers to another...but if the song works (as I Don't does I think) Frankie either looks the other way or didn't even notice in the first place.

Hey Eyeof, hows it going? Yes I think Dave wrote "I Don't". I'm like you, I was hoping the big announcement was going to be Dave back in the band but JJ back is still good news. I miss hearing Dave on the Bud Commericals, at I knew he was still around then. I haven't heard any in quite a while.

Last I saw, date said on Twitter he was working on an album 'soon' to come out...but...his time frame seems to be that of FS at times!

I loved the bud commercials...makes me think as well..i miss the bud light lizards as well! Was it Louie?

Actually, there were several different Bud commercials with Dave in them. You can probably find them on Youtube? I think that one of them was supposed to be taking place at a nudist colony? Dave was fully dressed in a studio, of course.

I know, no-one is posting on here lately.

I hope to have the new Jamison "One Man's Trash" CD soon. Maybe there will be some discussion on it soon?

If Andrew wants a posting frenzy on the Survivor forum, he needs to get Peterik back in Survivor.

They've got no dates posted on their website and have posted no notes nor answered any questions on their website since JJ rejoined... not much to talk about unfortunately. Andrew said he had an interview lined up with Frankie. Let's hope that pans out.

I wish he'd release the song they were touting on the website at least, even though it's not JJ; or at least have him recut the vocals. That's what I really think!

Or, if Peterik is unwilling to do that, just get him to join this board.
Actually, Sullivan doesn't seem to be overly busy, he could join this board, too. That would liven things up. I'd love to read the flame wars between the two of them.

They definitely need to get on the road! I'm FB friends with Chris Grove and he said he was on the road 250 days in 2011. Thats amazing! And I'm so happy for him, he's really enjoying being part of Eddie Money's band. I miss him in Survivor but they just didn't work enough, a guys got to make a living!

Survivor opened for REO and Styx in 2001, they are suppose to team up again this summer. Survivor should jump on the road with them again, at least it would get them out there again.

It must have been very hard for Grove to go from 2-5 dates a year to 250 dates a year...wow...

Would you guys rather see JJ back in FS's Surivor, or Dave Bickler an album with JP?

The key to JP's tunes is the abilty to have a singer STRETCH his range out to Hi C and Beyond....

Dave is not doing that anymore, you would not want that album....

BUT..Dave doing his own thing would be cool...
