Live at Milwaukee Summerfest

Postby Deuce » Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:21 am

Hey everyone, I saw the band live for the first time at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI on Friday, July 1. It was a pretty good show but I'm confused, why didn't they perform "Burning Heart?" As far as I know it's their second biggest hit and a great song. If anyone has any idea why they didn't do this one I'd appreciate it. Are they tired of playing it? Do they not like it? Is there some legal restriction? I thought maybe they were tired of the crowd, since most people left after "Eye Of The Tiger" and didn't stick around for their encore of "Caught In The Game." I was hoping they'd do "Burning Heart" in the encore but they only did that one and left. I just found it odd. Thanks a lot.

That IS weird. it IS their second biggest hit. It rocks out live, too. Heard it done.
Did they play anything new, dude?

No, they didn't play anything new. They very briefly played the very beginning of "Burning Heart," so that's when I thought "Okay, cool, here it is," but right away they went into "Eye Of The Tiger."

yeah, i saw them in MN last august and they did that same intro to burning heart then played eye of the tiger. the setlist was
FIRST NIGHT
CAN’T GIVE IT UP
TAKE YOU ON A SATURDAY (kickass beats the hell outa the album version)
POOR MAN’S SON
HIGH ON YOU
SUMMER NIGHTS
I SEE YOU IN EVERYONE( frankie's huge solo in this kicked major ass)
THE SEARCH IS OVER
CAN’T HOLD BACK
EYE OF THE TIGER

it was a kickass concert, they had a show at 7 then the same show again at 9, jami had me sing the chorus to high on you and mark gave me a drumstick and signed it and i got to hang out with mark and chris for a while, if you can watch them go ahead and do it.

Give Deano a break. He is all confused without the Journey board.

So this is where you guys are hanging out today? Get the fuck over to the VH board!

You know what, it's not bad because it's forced us to go to some of the other boards and populate those with our scintillating brand of music discussion. I've been hitting this one, LA ROCKS, VH, DEF LEP, and CLASSIC ROCK.

Have only heard the songs from the radio. They are ok, but was never motivated to buy any records. Am I missing out?

I would say missing out in a big way. Start with When Seconds Count and work from there. IMO.

Then start on Pride Of Lions. Both Cd's are fantastic.

No, start w/ Tiger Mamos. Or do you mean start with Seconds, but hit them all?

I agree, Seconds is great with Oceans and the amazing Can't Let you Go.

I guess the first time I heard of Survivor was Rocky III, so I never took them as a serious band. I will download their Greatest Hits now. Here is the lineup of tunes:

Eye Of The Tiger Eye Of The Tiger
You Know Who You Are
Burning Heart
The Search Is Over
High On You
Is This Love
I Can`t Hold Back
Hungry Years
American Heartbeat
Poor Man`s Son
The Moment Of Truth
Somewhere Here In America

Is this a good sampling?

Yea, a good sampler to start. then you can graduate to the more comprehensive and remastered "Ultimate."

"Hungry Years" on the 93 Gr Hts you're getting has Bickler back on vox. really cool jam.

It's not bad at all.

There are some classics that are not on there. But if you like what you hear you'll get them at a later date.

Plus Jimi Jameson has got one hell of a voice.

I agree, he does have a good voice. Hey, if you guys like them, they must be good. I have some driving to do this afternoon, so I will listen to the whole CD.

Well... I listened to the whole CD. I really wish I could say I liked it on the first listen, but I will listen a few more times and let you know what I think. My first impression is the singer has a good voice, but the songwriting is not the best. Give me more time with it, though... :)
