What Jimi Is Up To

Postby Slander » Mon Aug 14, 2006 12:06 pm

Hey Guys,

Is Jimi doing blues or something different. Says on this link he sings with Memphis Blood. I believe they are a blues group. I'd love to hear some stuff if anyone has a link to a sample.

Dunno if this is the same interview cuz I cannot open it where I am. However. Some dude on the noticeboard is saying he just heard a brand new Jamo interview and he's referring to himself as though he's still a member of Srvr.

I listened to it.
I don't think those 2 idiots knew he's not in the band anymore and JJ sure as hell wasn't volunteering it. I could detect some discomfort when some of the Srvr questions came up

Did I hear it wrong or were they asking about "I Can't Hold Back" and how he captured that great vocal and JJ's reply was like "I don't know, I was blasted when I sang it."

What the hell is going on with this guy?

He said in the liner notes for Ultimates, where he was FAR more forthcoming about his Survivor material, that he and the band loosened up before doing the Search vocal with some wine...but didn't say he was flat drunk.
I'm a HUGE JJ fan and think he is/was the top genre singer ever. Perry included.

But based on 'Drew's interview and now this one where he couldn't be forced to say hardly anything positive about his Survivor tenure....he seems to have become jaded as hell. Shame.
Slander, I'm seeing the pattern.

Red, what do you mean by pattern?

When Dave was booted for a second time, I've never heard him say anything negative. Course, I haven't found any interviews with him where he's asked about his Survivor days. The one on UTube is for Budwieser but they ask him what he was doing before the commercials. He just stated he was with a band in Chicago.

No, i mean a pattern of aloofness in interviews, at least as it applies to Srvr. I'm not necessarilly saying I blame him I'm just not sure what to make of it. No, "Thanks for asking, I'm really proud of that I Can't Hold Back vocal." Instead, "I dunno, I was drunk."

Hey Red,

I could send you a the 30 hour video tape of the interview I did with he and Frankie 4 years ago if you want it. I know it's old but it was a blast interview the guys for tv.

Yea, back when JJ was still presumably enthusiastic about Srvr... weird.

In my interview, Jimi was just really layed back while frankie was philosophical, intense (maybe too). To be honest Frankie did most of the talking. There's a shocker. LOL.

Yeah, Frankie rules the roost. He dominates the interview videos on Youtube too.

It sounded like he said he was blasted recording Search and then he said and I don't drink. I wish he would have been more forth coming about Survivor but it sounds like he like Survivor are just trying to move on. I am sure the guys on the air knew about the fact that he wasn't with Survivor anymore and they were just being respectful and not pressing because they seemed knowledgable otherwise.
