Jim Peterik & The Ides Of March

Postby Journey/Survivor » Sun Aug 20, 2006 3:10 pm

I was at the Ides Of March concert in Akron Ohio tonight, and I spoke with Jim Peterik.

Interestingly, The Ides are playing several Survivor and 38 Special hits in their shows.

They opened the show with High On You, then they played Caught Up In You, Hold On Loosly and Rockin Into The Night.

In addition to many of The Ides own songs they would later play Eye Of The Tiger and The Search Is over.
They also played the John Sebastian song Summer In the City.

The whole band puts on a great show. And Jim Peterik especially puts on a great show!

Peterik may not be as good of a guitarist as Frankie Sullivan, but he too is an excellent guitarist!

Peterik played a wide range of different guitars with some interesting designs, and he ran around in the crowd playing a guitar solo leading up to Eye Of the Tiger. He even took someones beer from them and took a drink in a good natured, joking way, during the solo.

The Ides jam a lot more than most people might realize! I highly recomend that if any of you get the chance to see The Ides Of March that you do so!

The band of course ended the main part of the show with their huge hit Vehicle.
However they then came out for an encore and played a song about being glad that they live in the USA.

I was able to speak with Jim Peterik after the show, and he is a total class-act all the way!!!

He said that he thinks that Robin McCauley will do a great job in Survivor and that he thinks McCauley is a great singer.

He also mentioned that Pride Of Lions are working on a third album.

So again, if you get the opportunity to see The Ides Of March, do so!!!

Oddly enough, I found out about Ides Of March becuase of Pride Of Lions. I heard the live audio and they mentioned it all starting with Vehicle. When they played it I immediately recognized it but knew nothing of WHY it was in the set. Thank god for the internet. Glad to hear POL are working on their next CD, I like Toby. And if IOM every come my way I will give it a shot!
