The new singer

How do you all like the new guy? Can he do the job? I was wondering if they ever looked at Kevin Chalfant as a replacement. He has a lot of talent, and sounds a lot like Jameison in my opinion. I hope it all turns out well, Survivor is a good band.

Hey there! I like your screen name :) From rumors I've heard, the band likes Robin, not sure if all Survivor fans are taking it so well. I was hoping Kevin would have been a replacement if Dave wasn't coming back. If you want my opinion, I think Kevin would have been a better choice, but what do I know. I have only heard the boot and it's really hard to tell. I need to see them live with Robin before I can really know how I feel about it.

McCauley works. He's no Jamo but I've got a boot and they smoke now, save for Frankie's mic being turned up way too loud. McCauley does a kickass Reach and Burning Heart.

The band really rocks. I agree Robins vocie takes some getting used to, but musically they blow Jamo's bound out of the water. The sound tight. Now you can see why I was so pissed when Jamo showed up in Lewiston, ID and not Survivor the real band. I went to hear the music, not Jamo sing and there is a difference.

Just got the re issue of McCauleys first band..UK's "Grand Prix" (McCauley is English) saw GP in Liverpool England in about 1980.. at a small club called the "Warehouse" ,,the album is very.."pomp rock" ..kinda Styxish ..standout trax are "Keep On Believin" (minor chart hit in the UK) and "The Tough Of The Track" ..a kinda of ode to Roger Bannister... English guy who broke the 4 min mile record in the early 60's

Anyone wants me to upload em on yousendit ..let me know, and I will.. just pm me or post on this thread

Grand Prix were a great band of their time, i saw them 3 times when they supported Iron Maiden waaaaaaaayyy back in the 80's.
If you like the more wimpy AOR check out the track "Paradise".

How lucky you are!

Really appreciate Grand Prix. The 2 albums with Robin "there for none to see" (1982) and "samurai" (1983) are excellents! I've got the 3 albums from Grand Prix on LP's and bought when they were rereleased on cd. I prefer Robin when he was with Grand Prix than in MSG (i was a fan of MSG but i didn't like MacAuley Schenker Group as MSG or Grand Prix).

I only saw one time Robin in concert supporting DEF LEPPARD with MSG in 1988. Really like his singing.

Robin has a different voice than Jim Jamison but i think that his voice can be a sort of bridge between Dave and Jim's voice.

I appreciate each of the 3 Survivor's singer.
