On the following page you can hear three songs that Survivor has re-recorded with Robin on vocals:

These don't sound bad...much better than the boot from KC...

I'll have to convert these to MP3's...

The EYOT sounds like they just laid his voice over the original track...as the music sounds nothing like the 2006 version with JJ...what do you guys think...I didn't listen enough to the others to tell....

Holy SHIT! Those got yanked down so fast my head is spinning.

Did hear the new FMS voc, too, TERRIFIC.

I think they were redoing those for possible Rocky inclusion.....

Now Frank:

Take Robin, Droubay, yourself, Ozello and Grove in and do "Someone Else's Sleepless Night, 1 Step Ahead Of The Flame, Give It Up, Jessica" and write and record 7 more new songs.

Converting to MP3s?

Postby Diffworlds » Tue Feb 06, 2007 9:34 am

How do you download and convert these to MP3s? I'd love to have them in that format.

Thanks,
Mike

if you download a program called Audacity, on most computers you can pretty much make an internal recording of anything being played on you computer (internet radio, dvd, ie stuff...you name it). As I said the recording in internal and digital, so it's usually at about the quality of whatever the original is...Audacity is free by the way...

Just listened to all three. I can not really speak for the songs off of Reach...since I have not bought Reach yet......but Robin sounds terrible on Eye of the Tiger. He doesn't fit that song at all. Almost sounds like some Hilbilly trying to sing with Survivor......Jimi and Dave at least had similar voices. A friend saw Survivor with Robin last August and he said he wasn't a fan of Survivors new singer.....I can see why.

OK, Andrew has them in full up on the front page.

Wonder if all the instrumentations are new (sounds like it w/ Eye but not the Reach stuff).

I really think they pull this off w/ McCauley now after hearing all 3 in full. No question.

Agreed .HE seems a bit out of place on the song ,doesnt sound right to me, so far he would be the least preferred singer for this band.

It just amazes me, being in the music industry myself via my band and radio show, I have found out that no matter what a band does, the fans will find something to complain about. If you go back a few months on this board people are saying how awful Jamison had become, the band responds by getting Robin (who is an awsome vocalist and does the band well), then whenever they respond by getting him it seems like people are saying "we want Jamison back or Dave".

Now don't get me wrong here, I like Jamo and Dave as well as the next guy but when are you critics going to face the fact that they are gone. Jamison has done said he will not return to the band because of being cheated and do you actually believe that Bickler will give up all of his money from the bud light ads to rejoin? Besides both have a new solo album in the works. In conclusion, sometimes it IS the music and not the musicians who give you that feeling of joy and passion eventhough it takes a good musician to perform the music.. Basicly, just be thankfull the band is still around and ARE actually wanting to do new albums and such or would you rather wait 17 more years for a new album?

regardless of the lineup (and I prefer JJ out front) I still think a new album will take closer to another 17 years than it will 1.

I dont like these recordings..I think they are just overdubs from Robin, something quick to get out so people can kinda hear him on the material. he was MUCH better live in august 2006 at the show I saw in elgin. Believe me, he was pretty damn good.

He's not as melodic at least not quite then but, keep in mind it was maybe show # 6 or 7 I think for him. He's a great talent and i look for them to do well with him and sound good. DIfferent but good. Frankie and him get along well and have great chemistry! I look for a very guitar driven hard rock but still melodic record in late 2007 or early 2008

First off, you are making a generalization. Search these boards you will not see me bash Jimi anywhere.

Secondly, Dave would not have to give up making those commericials to be a part of Survivor. I doubt very seriously that is a full time job. Someone writes the jingles then Dave goes in the studio and knocks of a series of them. You think he writes them? You think he is in the studio for months? And besides as you say yourself Dave is working on a solo record.

I think Robin is a talented vocalist just don't think he fits Survivor.

Also, you make the statement that we are lucky to have Survivor still around. Ok, if you consider Survivor having two 'original' members (guitar player and drummer) in it Survivor.

'Survivor' could put out a quality record with Robin, but to me it isn't really Survivor especially considereding Robin's voice comes out of left field.

Bickler was replaced by Jamison and Jimi had a voice similar enough to Dave's. He could pull off Eye of the Tiger and the casual listener would not know the difference. Robin can not pull that off. To me and some listeners that is a problem.

Those Robin 2007 cuts are just vocal overdubs ...So, there not gonna be as good as if the band re-cut the songs but its not for sale just for promoters and buyers!

I like Robin's voice, its different but very strong and "rockin" to borrow an overused word.

Actually, Dave does "write" his part. He and 'the voice' of the ads came to Denver (and I am pretty sure this was part of a radio tour) where they came up with a version of their ad for the Morning radio Show. It was done on the spot. The two of them have done so many of the ads that it is pretty automatic for them. So it is likely someone comes up with the "idea" and then the two of them go to work.

That being said, it is very fast and certainly would NOT interfere with other work.
