E mentions Survivor on Dancing With The Stars

Postby Slander » Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:07 am

I guess it is true. It was mentioned on E television that Survivor will be on Dancing With The Stars Tuesday night. Wow. I guess these guys aren't going to be playing airplane hangars after all. Sorry 7.

Slander, only you would think that Survivor Mach 3, without Dave or Jimi, would be a career booster. Keep on smoking that peyote-laced hash, dude.

7 you are seeing a whole team of psychiatrists aren't you? You are a moron if you don't think that is good exposure. Once again arguing facts with you is absolutely pointless. You don't like facts. They will play in front of a tv viewing audience of millions. Sorry. Jimi who? Oh yeah, hey Jimi fetch me a martini.

I'm just being realistic. For someone who purports to have had a personal relationship with Jimi, you sure do disparage him a lot. 50 bucks said he could kick your ass.

Yep, I watched DWTS tonight and they brought it up again. Said Survivor would be in the house to perform Eye of the Tiger for a Paso Doble dance. The Paso Doble is the bullfighters' dance. The way they announced it would imply that it was for the pro dancers to do the demo. Tuesday night shows are for the demos anyhow, as they whittle down the contestants who danced the night before to the elimination round at the end.

Should be good! This show is a HUGE ratings grabber. I don't know if any of you guys watch it, but I watch it religiously and there are MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of viewers. It pretty much singlehandedly revived the careers and/or reputations of Mario Lopez, Jerry Springer, Heather Mills, Joey Lawrence, et al.

He has a few more pounds on me. I have to move up in weight class. I don't have a personal relationship with Jimi. I've just met him on occasion. He's a nice guy and a hell of a singer.

Survivor on national tv! Wow. Let's give Frankie and the guys some credit. I'm sorry not everyone gets a gig on a top ten show.

Nobody is calling it a big break. It's just a chance to introduce the group to a big audience.

Yea, but they can't fade back into the woodwork again l;ike w/ the coffee.

One thing is, the catalogue especially I'll bet ultimates and the new best-of will get a boost.

I swear if Jamo were on Dancing With The Stars you guys would be gushing with praise. Frankie and the band get on there and it's like no big deal! I hate this hypocrisy.

ROFL, yeah, well that's cause I'm a Jimihead. LOL Unabashed, even.

I'm excited to see them tonight. But Survivor without Jimi or Dave is not really Survivor to me. Sorry, but that's how it is.

Monty I luv ya but Jimi isn't a founding member. Never was and never will be. The idea that he is parading around as the voice or sound just doesn't cut it to me. My issue here is anyone who would put down this bands efforts to get exposure. Dancing With The Stars is a great thing. It should be treated as such. Still the Jamoheads put it down. The jealousy is hilarious. By the way Monty who do you think is going to win the competition on DWTS?

Red I'm not Kevin. Sorry on this one I'm right. This is a great thing for the band. If it were Jamo on DWTS the board would be going nuts. We should be happy about this great opportunity. Maybe just maybe they can parlay this into something. Robin looks and sounds like a rock star. Jamo and Dave do not. By the way I'm a huge fan of Dave. Robin has the kind of showmanship that could really make a big difference. We shall see.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I'm excited that the current "Survivor" is going to be on. Very excited. All my friends keep calling me up to tell me like they are breaking the news to me, it's so funny.

I'm a Survivor fan. No doubt about it. I look forward to this show and anything they might produce in the coming months and years. I'm glad it's going to get them some much-needed marketing.

I'm a BIGGER Jimi Jamison fan, though. If he were on DWTS, I'd be having a meltdown, true. I'd be losing my ever loving mind. I'd be hoarse from screaming. HAHAHA I don't care that he wasn't a founding member. He was the voice behind all the songs that I love and was with the band through some pretty seminal albums and moments. I've made NO secret of the fact I have a huge crush on him. LOL

I'm a pretty big Dave Bickler fan, but not so much so that I follow his solo career outside of the Bud Light ads. If Survivor were on DWTS with Bickler as lead vocalist, I'd probably be a little more excited than I am now with Robin as vocalist. But I'm not discounting Robin yet. I just need to warm up to him is all. I am definitely going to be giving him a chance.

***

Joey Fatone or Laila Ali will win the show, for sure. The Joey Fatone fans are *rabid*. I am a member in good standing of the LJ DWTS fan club (hahaha) and you can't swing a dead cat without knocking down some Joey Fatone fan with 8000 avatars of his mug. It's weird.

I'm rooting for Laila, all the way. My second faves are Heather Mills (who moves me to tears!) and that speed skater, Apolo Anton Ohno. Cool kid, and a helluva dancer.

Monty have you met Jimi? He is a very nice guy. Great to his fans too. Laila Ali...What an athlete. By the way my comments were really not addressed to you about Jimi. I know you are supportive of the band. My comments were addressed to the Frankie haters who put down anything he is a part of. Wether it be his singing etc. DWTS is a big deal. He and the band should get credit for it! It's that simple.

Monty, have you heard any of Robin's stuff with MSG? He had some good songs back in the day. Check out some of the vids on YouTube of MSG, if they're still there. They may have been yanked. I still haven't seen Robin live with the band so I'm really looking forward to this show tonight to see how he is with the band. I have several friends that were faithful Dave or Jimi fans that have fell in love with Robin at the live shows. We may not get much out of this show tonight but at least we'll get alittle taste of what Robin is like.....I hope.

No, I haven't met Jimi... YET! I am going to see him at the Cowboys on the Coast Biker Rally in Beaumont TX on April 13th. I'm nervous, because I expect that I'll make my way to meet him and then I'll get all cotton-mouthed and not be able to say anything coherent except for "OMG I LOVE YOU SO MUCH" and just look like the obsessed 34-year old rocker chick that I am. HAHAHAHA

I am a musician, a politician, a computer technican by day. I can usually have a civilized conversation with bigwigs even under stressful circumstances. I fix the computers for school principals and trustees. I did THREE televised political debates and I'm actually a regular on a weekly call in show here in Hamilton. ( http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid= ... inionators if you are bored out of your tree... I'm Jo, the only woman on the panel. That was filmed last year right after Hurricane season when the price of gas went through the roof). I'm not usually a mealy-mouthed dork, but I know myself well enough to know I get positively star struck in the presence of CERTAIN individuals. It happened with Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo.

I somehow it will happen with Jimi. I'm in complete awe of the man. Just goes to show how rockstar awe goes far and wide. HA

Slander/Kevin, you're starting to scare me again...dude, I would be really psyched if Jimi or Dave were with the band and they were on "Dancing with the Cokeheads" because they were the voices of Survivor. 9 people out of 10 would tell you Jimi was "The Voice" of Survivor because all but one of their hits (Eye) happened with JJ. Robin, on the other hand, is "the voice" of "Survivor". There's a huge difference.

Hmm....Survivor had 5 top 40 hits with Jimi. 3 top 40 hits with Dave. That's hardly overwhelming evidence. Nice try. Sorry but Eye of the Tiger built their career and allowed them to have a VITAL SIGNS. Don't come at me anymore with Jimi is the voice of Survivor it just doesn't hold water. Like I said Jimi is a great vocalist but he is not the sound of this great band.

I also love how everyone downplays Robin's career. Survivor is lucky to have him. He had a solid career in his own right. I would love to see Survivor start performing LOVE IS NOT A GAME or ANYTIME.
