So tonight I'm coming home from shopping with my sister and we are stuck at the border. It's about a 20 minute wait and thankfully we each have our MP3 players full of our favourites and we NEVER agree on music, so we have agreed to alternate.
My song comes on random. It's Survivor's "Oceans".
Me: Oh I love this song!
Sis: Jeez, this song needs a Dr. Dre backbeat.
Me: There is a funny story about this song.
Sis: Oh here we go.
Me: So on melodicrock.com there is this tournament going on...
Sis: Melodic what?
Me: Melodic Rock. That website I go to where they are mostly crazed Journey fans. But there are about six of us who are die hard Survivor fans...
Sis: Oh jeez.
Me: There's Slander who I have a little crush on...
Sis: Slander?
Me: Yeah, that's the name of an obscure Survivor song
Sis: okaaayyy
Me: And then there's 7wishes, but Slander and Seven always fight viciously. I always take Slander's side and Seven always calls us bumbuddies or something like that.
Sis: Mm hmm
Me: Then there is Eyeof
Sis: (starts laughing)
Me: Clearly he's an Eye of the Tiger fan
Sis: Clearly. Hey do they know you are a woman?
Me: Yes, because my avatar is a huge sexy Jimi Jamison with hearts all over it that I made myself

Me: Anyway, Eyeof decided to make this tournament, probably to stop Slander and 7wishes from bickering so much. So we came up with 32 songs; all of the hits, plus weighted non-hits, so we all sort of agreed. Then We took the Super 32 and paired them up and voted to narrow it down to 16. This song, Oceans, was the upset. It beat out a hit or two, and now it's probably going to make it to the FINAL FOUR. Can you believe it?
Sis: Is it over yet? Can I play my reggae now?
Me: Are you listening to me?
Sis: Jo, it took you as long as that fucking song to tell me that story. You and your bumbuddies are nuts.
