My vote was a no brainer.

But FMS winning this is a *bit* of a travesty. I think the Journey fans are just poking their noses over here and voting for it to piss us oldtimers off. LOL

*Snort*. I just called myself an oldtimer. HAHAHA

Seriously, though, it's been an interesting run. I still think proportional voting would work better though. A ranking system.

I have to go with Eye Of The Tiger. It remains the standard bearer track for the band and I never get tired of hearing it.

I Can't Hold Back would be second and the fact that FMS made it out of the first round is an utter embarrassment, much less the finals.

This is getting obscene. I hadn't heard FMS before last week, and I think it's a very good song, but in no way does it come close to the same level as "Eye" or "Oceans" or "ICHB". If this song wins, there is a f***ing conspiracy. I'm in SHOCK right now.

CaREful 7....you're only hearing the DEMO of FMS not the official version which is much much better.

FMS is on the Reach album sung by Jimi with good production value.

It's also on the FMS demo sung by Dave.

And I'm pretty sure there is a version with Robin singing floating around.

I can give you all three if you want. Let me know. I'll upload them.

Actually, my winzip is acting up...

Email me at montyollie at gmail dot com and I can email the MP3s to you if you have gmail or hotmail. Not sure if other ISPs allow large files like MP3s to be sent!

That goes for anyone... if anyone wants these songs, just email me.

Well, I'm new to this site - so first of all. . . ..howdie to you all.

Now, about Fire Makes Steel. . . . . .I will say this - for those of you who heard Dave Bickler's version of that song (on the demo's CD), you would surely agree that it absolutely kicks ass over the Jimi Jamison version

Don't get me wrong - Jimi is a great singer and I'm not going to turn this post into a Jimi vs. Dave post.

But Jamison, who has rarely ever screwed up a vocal, abolutely ruins FMS with his version on "Reach" It's horrible. It's too slow. It doesn't have the "raw" edge that Bickler brings to it. Just listen to the way Dave screams "yeah!" after the first guitar riff. It's cool, it's raw, it's all Dave Bickler. The "Reach" version is just way too polished. That song is totally meant to sound tough.

As for the little contest we're having here, I'd vote for "Tiger", but, Dave's version of FMS is a close second. I'm just bummed that they never recorded a final version of the song with him at the helm.

I think Fire Makes Steel does have in a way an unfair advantage over the other songs, in the fact that some see it as a Bickler song, others a Jamision song etc...

Where as Eye is a Bickler song and I Can't Hold Back a JJ song...

It's just a matter of preference....To me the Demo version, although a demo, with Dave is a much stronger song...I can even remember some of the critics and I believe even Andrew referring to the remake on Reach as a 'lackluster' performance...

I think Red likes the JJ version better because it sounds like more of a 'ballad' just kidding...

Again, it's pathetic that FMS is even in the final. Moreso that people continue to vote for it.

Dave's version of FMS rocks, but I think it could only be considered next to these all-time classics if a final, mixed version of the song (with Dave singing, mind you) was available.

I still maintain some Perry loons are coming over here and ruining this great contest. I mean, come on! "Eye of the Tiger" and "I Can't Hold Back"? The only good thing is FMS is more likely to steal votes from EOTT than ICHB.

ROFL I think Andrew should get the tiebreaker vote seeing as he's as anti-FMS as the rest of us. LOL

Okay, silvergirl, your avatar of Jimi with the beret made me just SNORT and laugh at loud.

That was worth the price of admission to this thread. I don't care who wins at this point. LOLOL
