Dave Bickler. Hands down. I think he is the essence of Survivor. He was the perfect vocalist. Having said that, Jimi was a great 80's vocalist.

Dave Bickler no doubts there. While Jimi was great from 84 onwards. Years 77,78,79,80,81,82,83,93,94 (Bickler) Years 84,85,86,87,88,00,01,02 (Jimi).

Top and closest to top of their game that is, with the band.

They're both terrific but it's no Slander on Dave to say that to me he loses out the greatest melodic rocknroll voice ever. JJ.

I didn't realize Joe Lynn Turner sang for Survivor. Clearly the best melodic rock singer ever!

Amen sister. Without Dave there would have been no Survivor! His voice paved the way for Jimi. No question. I'm just glad Jamo didn't drop the baton when it was handed off.

No votes for Jim P or Frankie?? Twisted Evil

Nope. . . .not for me anyways. Don't like Frankie's voice at all, although, I really enjoy "Talkin' 'bout love". But it's the song I like, not his voice. I wish someone else was singing it. As for JP's voice, never cared for it either, although "Vehicle" is awesome stuff.

Dave is my all-time favorite singer, from any band, from any genre of music. Hands down. That Mo-Fo can sing!!! :-)

And JJ is also fantastic. We were all lucky to have 2 of the best voices out there singing in our band.

Here's a newsflash. Frankie has been part of the Survivor sound since the beginning. Listen to the backing vocals. We just can't give the guy any credit can we?

come on now slander...i backed off the other day, but you can't ask us to stop fighting when you won't...

The question on the poll had nothing to do with backing vocals...it was talking about lead singers...

I don't like Frankie's voice as a lead either....

I think JP was critical to Survivor as well, but I can't much stand to hear him sing....

I don't think anyone was taking credit away from Frankie...

Understood. I don't want to fight but to say that Frankie's voice isn't vital (no pun intended) is naive. Do I think he is a great singer? No.

You're kidding with this, right?

In a thread about lead vocalists, you gotta be absolutely shitting me with this, right?

Thanks for making my point red. Like I said it's naive not to give Frankie any credit for part of the Survivor sound. I find it interesting that you guys love to jump on me when I say anything positive about the guy. Fine you hate him. I get it.

Man, you just like to argue...that's cool though...seems if we aren't arguing, nobody even post...

Is this where you insult JJ?

Can someone please tell me where I have insulted JJ? I have always called him a nice guy and a great vocalist. Vital Signs is an aor classic. I just don't go to the church of JJ. I don't drink the cool-aid. I don't think he is a god. I don't think he is the best aor vocalist of all-time. The fact that I don't shower him with superlatives seems to piss people off for some reason. I'm glad we have debate on the board or it would get boring. I like argumentation. I just don't think there is a need to get personal toward each other or members of the band.

I don't really care for Nevertheless. Although I like the lyrics. Talkin' Bout Love I think is a Survivor classic. Frankie puts his own touch on it. I for one hope he sings a couple of songs on the new record. Just a couple. It's a nice change of pace.

I think Frankie delivers great vox on both NTL and TBL. He can really belt, no question.

Gotta turn down that mic live, though, he shouldn't be that loud singing BG vox in concert.

No, I only read from the Gospel of Jimi. :D

Yep read the Hagar excerpt. No wonder the band's in the disarray it's been in since right after the Balance tour.
