Does This Get You Mad?

Do you see this as a slap in Survivor's face, or just Green Day having fun?

Sure it's disrespectful. I think when you mock anyones art it's disrespectful. EOTG has been inspiration to many all over the world. Green Day can have fun with the song all they want. The song continues to thrive 25 years after it came out. 25 years from now Green Day will be footnote and EYE will march. Having said that, there is no question that Green Day is talented.

Green Day may be talented but Survivor's better plain and simple.

Slander, dude, you are so full of shit. There is a REAL question as to whether or not Green Day has ANY talent. They suck! They have been using the same three chords for the past ten years. They are AWFUL! Terrible vocals, and horrendous musicianship - almost as crappy as Pearl Jam and Nirvana, but at least those bands had something to say about the world, whether or not the delivery is flawed. One of my students, who also takes guitar lessons, asked his teacher to teach him a couple of Green Day songs, and the teacher begrudgingly taught him how to play both of them in a half an hour...at which point Scotty decided the music was far too simplistic and unchallenging. THEY HAVE NO TALENT, Slander. You're DEAD WRONG about that assertion.

7 i don't care for Green Day myself but you are a complete moron if you don't think they are one of the most talented bands of their genre.

No argument here. However comparing the two bands is very much like comparing apples and oranges.

100,000,000 complete morons can't be wrong. All my friends are musicians, aged anywhere from 20 to 50, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM KNOWS GREEN GAY ARE A BUNCH OF TALENTLESS HACKS. They have NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER from actual musicians, and most people over 30 and under 20. Wrong, again.

Sorry I'll take industry insiders over a bunch of never were to be's like yourself. I of course mean no disrespect to you. A lot of great musicians never attain the money or respect they deserve. I take your resentment of Green Day as jealousy. It's perfectly understandable and natural on your part.

I put neither.

Is the whole concept of "punk" lost on you guys??? That's what punk is! Fuck the establishment shit. Green day is known for taking a song (even a melodic one like Good Riddance) and kind of adding their non-melodic punk edge to it.

I thought it was a bit of a tribute to EOTT in its own weird way.

Trust me, buttercup, I'm not jealous of Green Day. I resent their success in the context that great MR bands such as Survivor, TNT, Journey, et cetera have to scrape by while no-talents like them rake in the cash and live the good life.
