Current tour question

Postby ScarabGator » Fri Aug 24, 2007 5:39 am

On the current tour with Robin McAuley-are they doing any of the "Reach" material? I'm sure this has been discussed here before but I'm new to the board and probably missed it.

Hey Gator,

I just saw them on August 4th and the only "Reach" track they played was Fire Makes Steel. While I am a fan of "Premonition" I could sure do without "Take You On A Saturday." I've just heard it too much.

Thanks for the info Slander! I was hoping Fire makes steel would make the setlist but I was wondering if either of the Frankie Sullivan lead vocal tracks were worked in. Talkin bout love is a good tune, real catchy.

In my opinion Talkin' Bout Love is the best song off a reach. True Survivor through and through. I hope Frankie gets a least one song on the new cd.

I like their set but I could do without 3 songs of Premonition. I love the album but I'd like to be a bit more current. EOTG is so underrated. I wish they would play some stuff off their. I would kill to hear THE ONE THAT REALLY MATTERS or Silver Girl.

That´s right, a little bit more current (to promote the album) would be good. And also 3 Songs from Premonition are not necessary. Slander you´re right with the EOTT Album. Something like Children of the Night or hesitation dance would be cool.

ScarabGator, if someone posts Kansas City from last summer on the Reach tour they actually OPEN w/ Reach (very ballsy almost unSurvivor-like dare-take) and roll Fire Makes Steel out in the late show stretch run.

Fuckin awesome.

I actually think Robin does a great job with Reach. I really think that EOTG is very underrated as a record. Damn what about some songs off of there? Hell can't we get something off of Caught In The Game. A little Santa Ana Winds maybe? Or how about something off the first album? Like say Nothing Can Shake Me or Whatever It Takes. There is other stuff in the catalog besides Take You On A Saturday. They have played this song at every show I have been to.

I don't know if they've McDone that w/ McCauley yet but I know it was one of the great Dave tunes Jamo liked to cover.

It's on Extended Versions.

Not one of my favorites. When I saw them back in 1984 they opened with that song. There is some killer stuff on EOTG that isn't getting played. Have they ever done American Heartbeat?

Did the song work? I like the song, but it defintely lacks the energy of something that could be played live.

It worked pretty well, in fact it was the current single from the album at the time. Kinda had to play it.
Here's a trivia question for you and others:
After Survivor released " Premonition" until they "split", Jim Peterik plyed guitar on one song live. If this is a true statement......What song was it? If the statement is false, then just say it's false.

I'm going to say true. JP likes to play. Is the song Children of The Night?

Give Slander a cigar....On the Tiger tour Jim played a white Les Paul on the song Children of the Night. I actually talked to Jim on Saturday and we talked about that very subject.
I have a real CRAPPY old 110 camera photo of Jim playing that Les Paul from the tiger tour.

The way you phrased the question i thought you meant on every tour. Also, you said one song...i know he played guitar on Hungry Years and You Know Who you are in '93.

But damn, I'd love to hear Silver Girl or I'm Not that Man Anymore...what about Jackie Don't Go or even Santa Anna Winds? Even "Can't Let You Go"....I mean they've played Take You and Can't Give it up 100000 times...

Great intro to the song! My namesake. The word is out head are talkin'! So many songs that need to be played in this catalog. I also love half life but I'm not sure it would be a good song for a concert.

" Talkin' bout love is a good tune, real catchy."

I 100% agree that was a really neat catchy diddy. though frankie should've sang it a bit higher n with less nasally sound. The song is money! the most pop on the album but quite infectious.
