If you test the following links to the concert-locations, some presenters write it's postponed!

Image

Here for example it's writtten that the tour will take place in March/April 2008: http://www.spiritof66.be/agendouble.php ... 1190584800

Both of you tell me what purpose this serves? We all would like a new disc. The event appears to be rescheduled so what's the problem boys?

Again leaving us fans without any information, that´s the problem Slander. Wher is the problem to say we´re doing this or that and therefore we cannot do the european tour?

I couldn't agree with you more. Seriously. I think there biggest problem always and still is marketing marketing marketing! The little things. The talent is there it's the other stuff that kept them from being a headliner. Just my humble opinion. I hate friggin secrecy.

Slander...

Wow...again....you and I agree....

I'll say this as well, i feel that one of the biggest mistakes they ever made with the marketing, was not including Rocky III scenes on the Eye of the Tiger video...that movie and song were huge. If they would have done that, then the video would have been played constantly and you know that everyone out there in our age range would remember the guy in the beret in the Rocky video...

As it stood the video they made got little play nationally...I never even saw it until around '84...I've heard peterik in interviews say this was a big mistake...

Yep Eye the song itSELF was huge, the video less so.

Unlike w/ Burning Heart which was both huge as a radio single and a video.

This is scary. I couldn't agree with you more on this. I rember EOTG coming out and seldom did I ever see the video dispite the fact the song was 1 in numerous countries! What was that all about. Why did they hide the band. They should have been on every tv show possible etc. Did they even do Solid Gold? I don't think so. They did Solid Gold for Jackie Don't Go as I recall. My recollection is that they were busy touring with REO. EOTG was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the band and it went by. I hate the fact that the song is much larger than the group! It just shouldn't be. It's not fair.

I remember Burning Heart getting huge airplay on MTV. I believe it finally lost out on the Friday NIght Video Fights to Motley Crue Home Sweet Home. No shame in that. But very seldom did I see EOTG on MTV. What's with that! It arguably was the biggest song of 1982.

Slander,

I like agreeing, so I don't want to start a fight, but the interview I read, JP said that a certain person in the band didn't want to use the clips from Rocky, as he thought the video should focus on the 'band' and not share the spotlight...JP did not name this person, but I do doubt that it was stephen ellis....

oh well....as you said, Burning Heart used the footage and it's a great video...however, i wonder why on the greatest video collection that footage from Rocky IV is gone and it kills the video...i'm sure it's a rights thing...

Many videos from soundtracks in the 80's deleted the movie clips following a movies run at the theatre. No argument here. If that was Frankie's decision not to use Rocky clips than that was a bad decision but having said that I would have to believe the record company would have final say.

When no "official" informations are coming, the fans are searching through the web. On German promoter said the following:

"Die komplette Europa-Tournee von SURVIVOR wurde vom Management der Band abgesagt, da einzelne Musiker andere Verpflichtungen in den USA angenommen haben!

Das tut uns für die Fans sehr leid, ist aber nicht zu ändern. Bitte gebt die bereits gekauften Karten dort zurück, wo Ihr sie erworben habt.

Erstaztermine sind nicht in Sicht."

Translated in a short way:

The tour is cancelled by the management because some of the band members have other things to do in the USA (producing Mecca II ?) . No new dates are in the pipeline.......

There are some sources where it's confirmed: No tour in 2007 and no tour in spring 2008!

Here's the news from a german paper:

http://www.esslinger-zeitung.de/lokal/w ... 185305.cfm

ENTFÄLLT! 27. September: Survivor – „The Tiger is back - European Tour 2007 entfällt!

ACHTUNG!

It's really sick that there's no comment from the band or the band's management!!!
How easy would it be to write some phrases in a band note about it instead always only we love our fans and thanks for the support....

Survivor is like Journey, OVER w/o their hitmakers ! We want to hear the singer that made the hits and not just the song. Close enough?

What a fucking joke. I've said it before and I'll say it again...whoever is in charge of the band, "quote unquote", is a resplendant idiot. This is just as moronic as Jeffgate in the Journey camp. Boston gone forever, strife in Night Ranger, career suicide by Journey and Survivor...my four favorite bands, all torn to shreds in the past six months. Unreal.

Squirt do we really want to go down this road again? You give Jamison far too much credit. Jimi is great in his own right but he was not responsible for Survivor success. We can list the songs and albums if you would like? The song that put this band on the map is Eye Of The Tiger. Sorry Jamo didn't sing that orginally. Survivor had 3 top 40 hits without Jimi and their biggest song and album. With Jimi Survivor had 5 top 40 hits. It's a wash to me. It's great songwriting not just the singer. It is a testament to Frankie and JP that they are so talented that they can write top 40 hits for two different singers. Jimi did not make EYE OF THE TIGER a hit! Can we get that clarified once and for all.

7 i completely agree with you that Survivor should do a much better job of keeping their fans in the loop. That being said I don't see the postponement of the Germany tour a great tradgedy. I just don't see it. I for one think it's a great thing to have Frankie producing Mecca's new album.

I agree that they should be more open about what's going on with the group but having said that I think this has been a great year for Survivor. One of the best in a long long time.

For all German Fans it is tragic that the tour is cancelled (not postphoned). Last time the Band visited Germany was in 2001. So we have different point of views. But that is not the problem. It is great, of course, that Frankie is producing the Mecca II Album. But why in hell no official information???
