THE WHOLE STORY?

Postby PianoMan1986 » Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:06 am

Greetings,

Well, being a newcomer to this particular forum, I was wondering if anyone can give me an elaborate (and accurate for that matter) biography on SURVIVOR (e.g., why JIMI JAMISON, DAVE BICKLER, & JIM PETERIK went apart from the band). I'm anxious and curious to read. Also, I only have three of their albums (VITAL SIGNS, WHEN SECONDS COUNT, & TOO HOT TO SLEEP) so any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Survivor's other albums are...

Survivor
Premonition
Eye Of The Tiger
Caught In The Game
Reach

They also had a greatest hits album that had 2 brand new songs on it at the time of it's release back in 1993, those songs were called "You Know Who You Are" and "Hungry Years." I don't think that greatest hits CD is in stores anymore, but it shouldn't be to hard to find on the internet.

Just a couple of years ago they released another new greatest hits album called "Ultimate Survivor." In addition to all of the hits it also has the songs "Rebel Girl" and the never before released original version of Survivor's song "Rockin Into The Night."

Survivor have the singles "Burning Heart" and "The Moment Of Truth."

If you like harder rocking stuff like Too Hot To Sleep, then I highly recomend their album "Caught In The Game."

If you like the lighter stuff like "Vital Signs" and "When Seconds Count" then you might want to checkout their "Reach" CD.
I love all of their albums overall, so I can actually recomend all of them. But if you like Too Hot To Sleep, then I'd start with either Caught In The Game or Eye Of The Tiger.

There are many details as to why certain members have either left the band by their own choice or been replaced, but I don't want to go into much detail as I don't want to offend some people.

Money and creative differences have often been behind many of the problems, as is the case in tons of bands.

I would like to also add that the reasons would surprise most, and I have never ever read anywhere the TRUE and ACCURATE reasons....so it is best left alone.....plus it is THEIR business after all....

Good question to ask, however, the truth on this stuff will never see the light of day....and I think for everybody its better that way....

Thank you to the replies thus far (such a friendly board that I've seen so far).

I should've worded my question about the departure some of the other members a different way (I wish I didn't risk sparking issues on chat forums when I'm just trying to gain knowledge of interest). I guess what I was asking, "If there's such a strong chemistry sonically, as well as aesthetically, why would anyone walk away from that?" Even though that question is still answered through creative differences, etc. For example, Jimi or Daves vocal abilities, or the writing combination between Jim and Frankie.

Hopefully I've helped to clear some things up on my part. Keep the replies coming, I really do enjoy them.

Thanks,

Nick

if you like survivor rock sound try:

Postby crazy mar tay » Wed Sep 26, 2007 4:59 pm

all albums have good-great songs on them (IMO) however THTS if that is what you fancy/favor then Premonition and the debut Survivor (released in 1980) are probably more your cup of tea. Caught is excellent but is to poppy to be called a rock album like the 3 before it.

Tiger is a good rock album as well.

Premonition and To Hot Too SLeep are my 2 fav's

I don't need to say a thing axe. Quite frankly what goes on between JJ JP and Frankie is none of my fucking business. I just want good music. I will let you guys just get caught up in the minutia. Knock yourselves out.

There's a common denominator.

A few key people in this band have not been able to get along with or have run afoul of Frankie.

Blasphemous as it may be in some denominational churches, I'm going out on a limb and saying that none of the following have maintained membership in the Frankie FanClub: Jim Peterik. Dave Bickler. Jimi Jamison. Billy Ozello.....

Red I love ya. I'm a huge fan of free speech, however I'm not sure what purpose this serves. I would never go out on a limb questioning someone elses character if I didn't have all the facts. I think we should all move on. We've got new music from JJ and Jp coming out. That should be celebrated. We should celebrate Frankie's work with Mecca as well. Let's just stay positive.

Thank you Joe for being a voice of reason. I for one have heard this garbage since i joined the board 2 years ago. I have never heard a single thing substantiated. I will ask all of you: What purpose does any of this serve? Is it worth it?

Sorry meant the other guy, the one before Ozello (who rolled/was fired years ago the first time), the guy Frankie said had a bad attitude and stuff like that.
Yes, Ozello's back again.

Does anyone know why Mutt Lange Saint Sullivan left Dave Bickler to find out through this site that he was fired again?

I believe you are referring to Barry Dunaway. It's nothing significant. Why speculate? What purpose does it serve? The bottom line is that FS, JP, and JJ are all doing great things. Let's celebrate that. I think if you asked FS, JP, and JJ they would have nothing bad to say about one another. They were a "family". All families have issues. Those issues are no one's business! I for one like this band because everyone who has been associated with it is Class. I wish we could say the same about some of Our posts.

"Mutt Lange Saint Sullivan"quote]

I don't know you're name, so you have me at a disadvantage since you know mine.

Why are you on this part of the board??

I thought this was a BB for "Survivor Fans"....are you?

If so why the slurs twords Frankie on such a constant level, I can't seem to find you saying negative remarks twords other members or EX Members....he is keeping the name alive....and oh yea, Survivor does close to 50 dates a year.....but, YOU don't hear of alot of them because they are private or corporate gigs.....add that to the Casino's and Fests and they do 50 to 60 per year....and since they still command a nice $$$ per show they are doing just fine. Survivor is not out playing bars and your local pub....

I can see by the amount of posts you have you have ALOT of opinions...

What's my post count have to do with the price of peanuts in China, Joe?

I have no life, big deal.

But there is a pattern of eccentric professional behavior that has left bandmember after bandmember unhappily strewn in Frankie's wake. The common denominator is him.

If we don't want to answer the Dave Bickler question, (you know, the one where he calls Andrew and goes, "Dude, I'm not in Survivor anymore?") then what in HELL right did he think he had to sue the TV show Survivor?

Well, I was only trying to get some information on a band that I like, and instead it turns into a love/hate dispute. I know that anymore this is typical no matter what chat forum you go to, but I was under the impression in coming here that we all held common interest...SURVIVOR. Thank you to all of you who have posted replies in an effort to try and help educate me on the subject, but I guess I tend to be prone to sparking controversy inadvertently and unintentionally.

I should probably stay out of this?

But in an attempt to try to calm things down a bit I will say the following.

I can verify that BOTH Red13JoePa and Joe Vana are huge Survivor fans and are passionate about the bands music.
And sometimes that passion can get people angry, as is the case here. I would assume that all of us who are regular posters here on the Survivor board are true fans of the bands music, and that we would love it if all of our favorite members of the band got along well. Being big fans we hear stories about what has caused certain problems within the band, some of them are probably true, and some are probably false? If we could force all of the members of the band to get along with each other we would, but we can't.

As I have mentioned on here before there are certain jackasses that have ruined the Journey board on this site. It has usually been done because some people can't get past the fact that either Steve Perry or Jeff Scott Soto are no-longer in Journey.
And the Journey board has also been ruined because tons of people are constantly at one anothers throats.
I hope that we don't have that happen here on the Survivor board!!!
So please, everyone, lets all try our best to be civil with one another, and to remember that were all Survivor fans here, even if we don't always agree on what the bands members do!!!
