I f-cked up!

Postby Tito » Tue Jul 01, 2008 4:41 am

I was at a local festival this weekend in Downers Grove, Illinois. I didn't bother to check out the music lineup before I went. As I was walking behind the one stage, 1/2 block away, I heard music that seemed familiar but didn't stop to really listened. I even told myself I should check that out because it's going to be someone that I liked, but I was in a rush to meet my group. After the fest, I went to the website to see who it was and motherf-cker, it was Pride Of Lions. I was pissed.

For the record, I was standing with my group near the other stage listening to WAR and I didn't even know that was them until after the fact as well. They were actually ok.

Yeah....ya did. I was there and they sounded great as always. Toby's voice is as good as always. Nice setlist, wished they'd done a couple of songs that got passed over but, Oh well, they were still great.

Sure although it won't be completely in order, they did the following:
It's Criminal, Gone, Sound of Home, Unbreakable, Music and Me from the 1st album
Heaven on Earth and Let me Let you Go from The Roaring of Dreams
Vehicle from the Ides of March
Live Life from Jim's solo album
Burning Heart,High on You, Search is Over,I Can't Hold Back, Eye of the Tiger from Survivor
The encore was Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar since Jim co-wrote it with him. That's all I think, They played 90 minutes.

I have all the POL stuff. It's great but I don't like Toby on Survivor stuff. It's a bit too over the top for me. Having said that he is an amazing talent. Axe did they do TALL SHIPS?

I like Toby on Survivor material more than I do McFraudley.

Ummmm Pride of Lions??

With HALF the songs not even being Pride of Lions tunes?????

AND.....the Ides played too....the same fest.....and I am sure they played those Survivor tunes as well.....Love those guys...but a quarter of their setlist is not the Ides tunes....and they have some great tunes they don't play.....

I am a bit confused why they called it Pride of Lions and not Jim Peterik....no disrespect, but if Mecca plays live, and we will, we sure won't do half the tunes from other bands we are associated with.....I mean, 5 Survivor songs... I wonder how Toby feels....they did 3 POL albums with about 35 tunes....and they play 8 of them and then 8 "Cover" tunes....let Toby have his day he deserves it....3 albums and he never gets to carry a tune himself alone....they kid has the chops, and is definately the singer in that band.....or he should be anyway....

Let World Stage be World Stage....POL be POL...Ides be the Ides...ect.....

Just my opinion boys and girls.....

I actually agree with you there, Joe. Perhaps 1 or 2 Survivor songs would have sufficed, but not half the set list.

There are people who gave Robin half a chance and have already said they LOVED his brand of style for Survivor (and this is someone I know who is a big time Vital Signs, WSC and THTS addict!) . Perhaps going to one of the shows might help. 8)

I'm sure you meant no disrespect and nor do I ,but last I looked Pride of Lions was Jim and Toby. So who are we to question the setlist? If Jim wants to bask in the glory of his hits, why shouldn't he,especially when he has a singer who can sing them. I'm sure that when you've written as many #1's as Jim has, you've earned the right to do as you please. Last I looked, neither one of us nor anyone else posting on here has written that many or earned that right.

So who's gonna be in Mecca besides sullivan? When you play live that is.

Excuse me? Jim's can write a great song but he isn't above reproach Damn he ain't perfect! By the way how many number one's has he written? 1? And wasn't that co-written? Vehicle hit number 2. I own Jim's POL stuff. I really dig it. Toby has a tremendous voice. Almost suited to Broadway. I'm not sure that's appropriate for Survivor material. I'd like to hear Toby do some Jim Steinman material. By the way this response isn't meant in anyway toward Mr. Peterik. Yes Jim has earned the right to do as he pleases just as we have the right to disagree.

Yeah Eye...Maybe we could get Celine Dion to sing Tiger too. Sorry McAuley sings his ass off on Tiger. It sound "street" when he does it! It doesn't sound like a song from the "Lion King" or "Cats".

If by street you mean sh!t, you have it buddy...

So what, if sing my ass off in the shower, doesn't make it sound any less McAuwful.

I'd just as soon see Celine Dion sing it as McAuwful. Could it really be worse.

I know, i know...he's a great showman...bla, bla, bla...bla, bla, bla...

Isn't this where you go ahead and insult JJ, although I don't care about JJ?

LOL. Insults. Robin is by far the most energetic showman they have ever had. Nothing against JJ he's got a wonderful voice. Bickler hit Tiger head on with Robin a close second.

Hey Eye.....any word on why cancelling francis struck again? I mean I'm sure it was out of the band's hands, afterall they wouldn't want to pass up the chance to go on national tv in front of 150 gazillion people. I mean it might have led to more lucritive stuff.

Guy I know you like to blow your own horn but JP doesn't need your help. Especially when you misstate the facts. Name all the number 1's?

By the way, Peterik co-wrote "Heavy Metal" with Sammy Hagar, which is a HELL of a lot more relevant than anyting FS has sans JP. By the way Slander, that means 'without' JP...

Yeah, it's a great song. Didn't chart What is the point? I'm not the one on the message board claiming someone has penned numerous number ones by himself. I never claimed FS is the greatest song writer of all-time. Listen...I like JP. Own his stuff and like I said he doesn't need your help.

Good God......I ask a simple question and get accused of mis-stating the facts and other fun things. Why does one always have to look for some hidden agenda and not take things at face value? Eye, Red do you know the answer to that?

2- "Nevertheless (1993 version) was to be in the move "Mighty Ducks II" ?

and finally

3- "Fire Makes Steel" was to be in "Rocky Balboa" ?

Thanks
