God damnit Frankie!

I don't think anybody thinks that you or any artist supports the politician playing one's song. You should be proud that someone, even a scummy politician, likes your song enough to be played especially at a public event like that. This can be great exposure for you and the band. Parlay this with the Rays World Series exposure and this could be a great month for Survivor.

Not to mention in this case, Slyvester Stallone, who the song was written for (Rocky), supports McCain.

See Sly still keeps on giving.

The obvious thing to pull from all of this is FS is NOT a supporter of McPain in the ass or Sarah Failing....if Obama was using it I would assume it would be ool.....we all endorse who we endorse, and I totally understand he not wanting the other side using the tune.....JV

"Lawsuits R Us" has no say over who plays his music when.

McCain will probably cease now out of common sense but no one can stop him.

What I don't understand is why politicians continue to use music at all anyway but whatever I guess.

I can't remember the song but it was a new song that REO came out with back when Clinton was running, like around 95 or 96. It gave them great exposer for that album, cause that album was not that good, MO! So Joe, if McCain used one of Mecca's songs in his debates, would you call him and tell him to stop using it? It's great exposer, come on, admit it!!

Depends if I am for Mcain or not ;-)

Heart, Mellencamp.....all have done the same thing....and many more....

If the KKK were using one of my tunes I would serve a cease and desist.....I am NOT comparing Mcain to them, I am just using them as a RADICAL example of why artists freak when people they are not affliated with, or against, use their material....

Just my opinion.....

Oh yea....a C and D is NOT a lawsuit....just a friendly wink to stop.....

He makes more of an issue by speaking up. Plus, it now comes off as an endorsement for Barry O. It may have been smarter to go against the grain and say, "I'm happy McCain is using our song and support him." That's a way to get 40 to 50 million people to rally around you.

P.S. I'm not personall endorsing McCain.

Funny thing is that I have a friend who is a big fan of Survivor, Heart and Mellencamp, and he's also a huge McCain supporter.

I try not to say too much about politics on internet forums, but I agree with Frankie 100% on this one.

Firstly, I think its right for Frankie to deny the Mcain Campaign using "Eye", especially since I sincerely don't want the Dave Bickler's voice being connected in some way for political means.

Artists don't like their music attached to politics unless they are vocal about their politics. But by demand their songs NOT be used, it is the same as talking about politics because it becomes obvious who they DO support.

No artist wants to divide their fans or create arguments which is why they tend to shy away from political involvement. But honestly, do artists truly believe that by McCain playing "Barracuda" or "Eye Of The Tiger" (legally, since the venues pay the performance fees) that it means Heart or Survivor must be supporting McCain?

I would rather see statements from the bands simply saying 'we are not acknowledging support of any candidate'...

Exactly Dave28.
The whole is so passive aggressive.

Same thing "nuetral" perry pulled moaning about McCain using DSB.

There IS a lesson here for politicians, though.
If you don't want to be made to look bad by some pious sanctimonious musician, have somebody confirm with said artists' people that they're COOL with your usage of the song.

McCain should've fired back on Perry by saying, "We don't expect anyone who hasn't worked in over 20 years to support us."

For the record, Jamison and Bichler are both better than that big nose, tail wearing freak (Steve Perry).

Sarah Palin was in Youngstown Ohio today, and they were still using EOTT at the rally. I wasn't there, but I could hear it in the background when they showed a clip of it on the news.

The song deserves better than to be played at a rally of racists. I'm with Frankie on this one. I wouldn't want my hard work associated with people who use the "n" word or who think it's appropriate to talk about killing a presidential candidate. It's disgusting. And for those of you supporting McCain, I voted for the guy in 2000!

Hell, let them play it at the rallies...it's probably the only place anyone can hear it...you sure aren't going to hear it in concert, unless you make one of the five shows they play a year...

Now i'm confident that as soon as Frankie is done suing JJ, the TV show Survivor, Andrew and John McCain, he will be able to shift full attention to that new album that is coming out jan. two years ago....please....

Is does make sense though, this Frankie Obama thing...

Really Red it does...I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!!!

Frankie knows that under Obama's tax plan there is a series penalty for making over $250,000 a year...therefore, he is dedicated to touring as little as possible and putting out no new material, as to not go over that max point...

It FINALLY makes sense....
