Press Release - Feb 19

Postby Andrew » Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:34 am

SURVIVOR--Robin McAuley (vocals), Frankie Sullivan (guitar), Marc Droubay (drums), Michael Young (keyboards, guitars) and Billy Ozzello (bass)is currently hard at work at studios in Chicago and Los Angeles on a new studio album which they hope to release by the end of the year.

Singer Robin McAuley joined Survivor in 2006. Guitarist/founding member Frankie Sullivan knew he was the perfect person to front the band. “When we made the decision to replace Jimi Jamison,” he explained, “I had no idea what we would do. Then it hit me--Robin McAuley! Is he available? How can he possibly be available?! Can I be lucky yet again in my career to work with such a talented singer? Well, the short answer, he was available, we gave him the songs of a set list we would perform, he came to the Windy City and blew our socks off! Robin is a pure pleasure to work with and he’s such a great person. With Robin, what you see is what you get. And boy do you get it!”

McAuley continued: “I’m very excited at this opportunity to sing for Survivor. I can only hope the Survivor fans give me a fighting chance. Frankie and I have worked together in the past I am extremely excited to start writing with him again and playing with a great bunch of guys. This new Survivor promises to be full of energy, and with such a stable of awesome tunes to pick from, who knows what each show will bring. I’m ready!”

The band’s website is found at www.survivormusic.com for info, photos, sound and video clips, and more.

OK, so MR.com is running with this in the news tommorrow, I'll take it and I will hold Frankie and the band to it.
Follow up to Reach officially underway, no longer just rumored or threatened but acutally being worked on IN Chicago.

First I thought this was a joke. :P

This announcement has been around a LONG time. However, since there are alterations, with Michael Young (keyboards and guitar) and that end of the year an album is expected, is surely good news!

You would think the PR would talk more about the album and/or the work and less about what happened nearly 3 years ago.

There are obviously a few versions of why/how Jamo left....in the end it does not matter at all....they have a great guy in Robin and will have a monster of an album at years end....Jamo did a great job with Survivor, and I hope he has continued success, but delving into the past only benefits those who want to rewrite it.....

Besides, no matter how/why Jimi was out, Frankie still had to decide whether or not to continue as Survivor which meant replacing Jimi. It is an accurate statement.

Wow I said the same thing two years ago when the announcement was made and was ripped to shreds! Oh well. Glad we have moved on and I look forward to a great album.
