Does anyone now if POL is on hiatus or is the project done? Jim and Toby make great team. I would hate to see it end.

There will be another album - most likely next year.

I'm glad there will be another album. I've like all four releases so far including the live album.

Frontiers will release a solo album of Toby Hitchcock. Release date "second half of 2010":

http://www.frontiers.it/default.aspx?ta ... ItemID=554

"Erik Martensson (ECLIPSE, W.E.T) has been busy writing songs for the first solo album of the fantastic American vocalist Toby Hitchcock. Toby has been singing on three studio and one live album with Pride Of Lions, the band put together by Jim Peterik: founding member of the legendary AOR band Survivor. The whole album will be produced at Martensson’s Blowout Productions Studios in Sweden. Musically will explore some heavier and more contemporary material for Toby, but will still keep some incredible melodies very close to the most recent Journey sound. You can expect a true Melodic Rock gem for the second half of 2010."

Ty I ask both Jim and Toby back in january about it and they both said they both would like to do another and plan on it.
Toby also told me about his "solo" album and said he's just singing on it. I know he didn't have any input on it as to songs or the likes....it's almost as if he's being hired to sing on an album and that's it. In fact that's kinda the way he put it.
Regardless can't wait to hear it since I love his voice.

Toby's a hell of a talent. I loved the Pride of Lions efforts. The last one was probably the weakest in terms of song to song consistency, but some great moments there to be sure, liek Faithful Heart, Heaven on Earth, and Language of the Heart. Can't wait for the next offering from Peterik, Aquino, Hitchcock & co.

Good to see one artist appreciating the fine work of another. I like the sound of that a lot. Okay, Pride of Lions as the opener, then Europe and then Journey headlining in 2011. 8)

Wouldn't surprise me at all, and it may not even be released under his name. Most of these albums are not and get some random name attached to them instead. Yet another one of the project albums that Frontiers Records has done for a bunch of singers (Joseph Williams, Danny Vaughn, Kevin Chalfant, Mickey Thomas, etc). Easy to put together, easy to sell, and not much work on the part of the vocalist.

My only issue is that when you start using the same songwriter for every project, that everything starts sounding the same. Even your best singers with a very distinctive vocal style can only do so much. Erik Martensson is quickly joining Magnum Karlsson as Frontiers' go to, in house writer---and there are VERY few writers out there who can write different styles. The end result is you have a bunch of cds that sound exactly the same, except for a difference in singers.

Agree. I like The Roaring of Dreams much better than The Destiny Stone. Much Much better.

I dunno, I tend to prefer Destiny Stone, if I had to pick. WAY too theatrical on Roaring... I find all 3 albums pretty patchy overall, truth be told. There's some good stuff on all 3 albums, but you have to wade through a fair amount of fillers to get to it.

I like PoL the best and Destiny Stone a close second. Some of the songs aren't filler for me as much as I just have to be in the right mood for them - if I'm not feeling that theatrical stuff, I'm apt to skip over some of them.

RoD was the weakest effort overall for me.

I agree with you ROD was the weakest album overall. I listen to Destiny Stone and the Debut the most. Love the songs "Light from a Distance Shore", "letter to the future", "Gone", and "unbreakable". Can't wait to hear what Peterik may come up with next.
