If you're a friend of Peterik...

Postby Tito » Tue Jan 26, 2010 2:59 am

Saint John has a brief review of the World Stage show from this past weekend up in the off topic forum (or whatever Drew's calling it these days) but I want to briefly discuss Jim Peterik, specifically his wardrobe.

I don't know how any of his friends or wife let him out of the house with what he wears to these shows nowadays...at least I hope it's confined to just the shows and not everyday life. Peterik has always dressed eccentric over the years I guess, but it's getting out of hand the last few years and Saturday was by far the worst. At first, it was funny to see what he would wear (and be the butt of good nature jokes) but now it's embarrassing and even concerning. To describe his first outfit - a black and pink leather- was a combination of 1980's Randy "Machoman" Savage/Brutus Beefcake/Kiss circa Music From The Elder era customs (that they scraped). They were black leather which looked like a tiger clawed out, which displayed the pink. Leopard skin boots as well with the pants tucked in. Brutal. The second outfit was worse. White jeans with some pattern and turquoise shirt and a old woman's hat, no bullshit. He looked like Adorable Adrian Adonis in 1986. God forbid, he would've got jumped in the parking lot, the cops would probably charge the offenders with a hate crime.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. But I'm concerned. These outfits are bad and embarrassing. He still has the skunk hairdo as well. He just needs to bring it back some. The other thing that concerns me is it may be rubbing off on his son too. Not that Colin's attire was bad on Saturday (it's changed from previous years) but I think he had on Jim's snake skin boots. That's how it all begins. Someone needs to stop him now!

So, if you're a friend of Jim's, can you tell him next time you see him, "Jim, you may not wear that." Or, "Jim, you may not want to go outside with that on." Believe me, you'll be doing him a favor and you'll be a better friend for telling him.

You seem like a ballsy enough bloke Tito and Jim is always approachable so why
didn't you tell him so Saturday night?
I bet he would have appreciated your concern for his Son's style.

I hardly have a problem with it....I don't have to wear it....

But Thanks for calling me out Red....

I could care less what JP wears. He's a great song writer. He's earned the right to wear a diaper on stage as fas I'm concerned.

Is it just me, or does Jim look like he's 'curling one out' when he squats like that with his guitar? :-S

The world isn't ready for moves like that! haha! ;-)

I give the guy a pass on his eccentric wardrobe because he's such a damned good guy and he's so enthusiastic about music.

I'm laughing my ass off here. Jim is SUCH a great guy I can't convey that enough. The wardrobe is just Jim.

His style is untouchable....he's louder than life, and twice as nice. And from someone that's stayed at Jim's house, let me tell you, he is rock star 24/7, but still 100% down to earth and loves life and music every bit possible.

To wake up to see Jim in his full kit at 8 in the morning is something else. He's already writing lyrics and humming into his recorder...

But the guy is a gem - opened up his house for me, brough me lunch/dinner/breakfats, let me borrow one of his cars for nearly a week and rallied the troops for me for MRF1.

And I'm pleased to say he will most certainly be a big part of MRF2 :)

Andrew,

I have no reason to doubt any of what you said about JP at all. Seems like he's an even better guy than he is a songwriter and musician, which is no small feat.

Tito and I got to speak to him at World Stage 2 years ago and I mentioned that we "knew Andrew" and that he was thinking about doing another show. His eyes lit up and he said "Andrew ... he's like my dad, man. The guy thinks he's my dad. I love that guy. I'd do anything to help him with a show and you could tell him I said that." JP is the most energetic performer and human being I think I've ever been around. He's just non-stop energy.

It was hard not to notice JP's outfits this weekend. It made me think of this thread right off the bat. I hope someone can post some pictures. What he wore during Jimi's set on Sunday, I am still scratching my head on that. I finally got a chance to talk to Jim and he is such a nice guy, I couldn't bring up his outfit though, I just couldn't do it.

I don't think it would bother him....he is an amazing songwriter who made his mark in many ways....the clothes are in my opinion an extension of that he is going to do things HIS way....and thats the way it should be...now, If I wore it they would cart me away...but he pulls it off....remember...it is SHOW BUSINESS...
