Survivor Website Down

Postby Slander » Wed Jun 02, 2010 4:36 am

Just surfed the Survivor website and it says they are working on new website? Anyone know what is going on in Survivorland? FS announces a new record in March. Then silence. I believe the band played a show last week.

They have a show with Fastball in august i think here near chicago. Pretty weird pairing i guess.
BTW if the new site takes as long as a new album.....it'll be up in 2014.

thanks for the update AXE. Appreciate it. As a loyal fan I haven't been this disappointed in a long time. Having said that I am keeping the faith.

No problem slander.....they are part of some summer package thing a suburb around here is doing. Another one is Kansas/Blue Oyster Cult. The survivor one is strange in that i think they are paired with Fastway....kind of a weird pairing if I am right.

It's still kind of odd...you can build a new site or overhaul and old site without taking down your current site...but then again, what isn't odd...

Sometimes it reminds me of that old Naked Eyes song...you guys can fill in the blanks from here...

I like the band, but sometimes they have never been good at PR as far as I'm concerned. I always thought they should have been bigger. As far as I am concerned this is nothing new.

Thanks for the update JV. I can honestly say, as a fan and advocate of the band, I actually feel taken for granted. It's a shame.

I think what he's trying to say is that he's big a huge advocate of the band thru good and bad. And here we were all told promise after promise after promise by the survivor camp, only to be disappointed time after time again. Things were said and not delivered such as a new album in 09 and other things were promised and not delivered. So i can see how he feels like his emotions and loyalty have been taken for granted. Almost as if the fans don't matter just feed them the bullshit they want to hear and do what you want.

If I'm wrong sorry slander.

AXE everything you said is 100 percent correct. I've tried to stay positive. What bothered me most was a fb comment that stated who cares if the album comes out tomorrow or in 6th months. The fans care! It's not like the band puts out new material often. We have eagerly awaited a new album with a new singer who has been with the band now for 4 years. Fans do matter! Survivor has a loyal following and considering the ups and downs the band has been through over the years the fan base should never feel taken for granted. Just my thoughts. Now having said that I can understand if the new album hit a snag, FS not going into detail about it.

Hey glad I could help out(if thats what i did..lol)....Yes I understand your point about a new singer and needing new material since all he has to sing right now is someone elses stuff. If there has in fact been a snag in the production, then frankie should have ..a) Not said anything about the album being "right around the corner" or about releasing a sample in such and such days......or b) tell everyone that there have been production issues and that the album is off track as far as the schedule goes....or c) shouldn't have given a timetable to begin with. I haven't seen the facebook comments as im not a friend on there, but if they are true, and I have no doubt you reported them accurately, then this is just another smoke and mirrors game by sullivan and reveals his true feelings about the fans and new music. Which actually jives with a comment made to me recently by someone concerning sullivan's desire to do new material. The way it was told to me is he basically is happy doing nothing except playing the odd show here and there and playing rock star. Sad to be honest because without the fans none of them, current or former mambers of survivor, would have what they do have.
It's just too bad not all the members realize that and continue to take the fans loyalty for granted.

I doubt FS is going to change is style anytime soon. He's driven me nuts to be honest as well. What I gather is that FS is more "business man" than interested in putting things out. Lots of personal stuff he does (he's even mentioned several times that he has some business to attend to and doesn't reveal what that is. He's sure busy with that LOL!), and everyone else has to dance to that tune.

Well the proof will be in the pudding. As JV mentioned that new one is just around the bend.....(or is it? Hard to say with FS in charge).

One thing is for sure Re-Entry is not the White album (you'll need to see his comments on FB).

Well Slander I can most certainly sympathize...Unfortunately, I think most of us got there with FS a long, long time ago...You try and stay positive, because what is the point in the other, but the mistruths do start to add up after a period of time...I mean for anyone around during those late '90's message board days, we were pretty much 'preached' a truth, that in the end was worthless...we supported blindly and stood by the bad...What I will say, and I will always be a fan as I remain a fan, but you don't support and stand by blindly but once, not after you have been burned...As we have all said, there are two sides to every story I'm sure, but when one thing is said and another done, it's at times hard to overlook...As for new material, I think it best to assume the worst and hope for the best...I for one hate let down...hard way to be...but...It's funny when I think back to that time, about the time I got myself thrown off the old survivor board, I recall making some comments that at first made marc mad...but he came back the next day or two and said something to the effect of..you know you are right and we have no right to be mad...something like that...in the grand scheme of time I'm not sure which band will be the most frustrating to me...Guns and Roses, Surivor or Van Halen....

The thing is we aren’t all bad negative people…we just love the band’s music…we all think they should have been bigger and at the end of the day, we just can’t get enough and when you dangle something very rare in front of us that we have a huge desire for, and then make comments like it does not matter, well we get a little mad about it….the thing is, as much as poor pr, I suspect that line of thinking by FS is a huge part of the reason they never attained what they should…but hey, he has his right?
