An Open Letter to Survivor Fans...

Postby survivorfan2005 » Wed Feb 23, 2011 1:53 am

As you all know me, I try to maintain an aspect of balance regarding this band however I have to say that IF and WHEN Survivor releases this new ablum on ITunes they better have a good promotional budget. After so many years, just a few "hey check out our new album" blog posts or facebook and myspace promotion isn’t going to cut it this time. The digital age is here and the media is popular to be on Itunes but making that the ONLY source is asinine and really makes you wonder if Frankie even cares about the band moving forward instead of stuck in the past.

I am not bashing Frankie; he has nothing to prove talent wise but managerial wise he really needs to show the world that he can deliver and he can’t pass it to someone who can. I mean hell If Frankie is “getting to old” or has “other passions” I’m sure JV on here would love to take this band to the sky again and I know he would utilize Robin’s talent. And I know without FS as guitarist to some of you including myself it wouldn’t have the same feel to it but you have to look at the big picture, you should stick to what you know works but if you never experiment and try new things then do you truly want to look back and think “what if”.

Don't get me wrong, I love the old songs and everything but in order to expand your audience and revitalize the dying die hard Survivor fans it is CRITICAL to have new songs and if they can’t produce new material then Survivor should just quit and disband because I hate to say it but they are currently living in a shadow of their former selves… This generation is mostly about "rap" and "screamo". Modern rock all sounds the same and now people are expecting it to be so.

I'm not going to play favorites as I try not to but given Robin's record and his vocal talent, Survivor BETTER damn well sure make use of his talent because he can get them back on track in the world of at least AOR and even as a stretch back on the radio. Again, promotion is everything and at least Robin is actually doing something such as the Doritos commercial. Please remember, I love all the singers, songs...etc equally and I do have my favorites but those are my opinions and I'm trying not to be bias but state the obvious facts as they are currently. Survivor has so much potential but in order to maintain talent, you have to keep at it.

Sure, they play live shows but again, unless they do the right promotion and do this album right, it could mean the life or death of the band. I know some of you are going to say “the band has been dead” but just because they don’t keep in contact with us doesn’t mean they are dead. It’s not all FS fault, there are obviously other factors involved however I think it’s time that we fans send the emails, letters, and flood their offices telling them we have the faith but if they don’t keep giving us hope then the faith will die and the survivor legacy will eventually die with it.

Folks, it’s time to stop bitching and complaining about what they could’ve done, could do..etc and do something about it. Ifyou want Survivor then show them besides bashing someone in the band or previous band members.. It’s time to “take it to the streets to find some satisfaction”.

Who is with me?

If so, let’s exchange information on mailing addresses to send letters to, Facebook pages, myspace pages to Im them, Emails to flood, and phones we can call.. Lets exhange and wok together on ideas to make this happen..
Music is only Real if you can feel it...

I hear ya SF2005. Although I would prefer to let FS handle whatever he said is coming. That said, FS.com is the best place to give him a piece of our minds (constructively) but I doubt most people bother to. Ive done my part in my own little way.
