Jimi Jamison - Rock Candy

Postby bulldog » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:28 am

I was wondering if Rock Candy would dig up Jimi Jamison's When Love Comes Down Cd and re-release it. Some of the tunes on there really rock and with modern remasterting it could sound awesome. They could put the original I'm Always Here from Baywatch on it. He recorded so many demos and songs during this time before he rejoined Frankie Sullivan it could be a unique release.

I doubt they'd re-release it, but I have to admit that WLCD has grown on me over the years. When I first heard it, it didn't do much for me, so I put it aside and didn't really give it another chance. Years later, I dug it out because I was bored with all my other CDs, and I found that some of it was really quite good. The production quality is really what hurts it the most, I think.
Oh, and is it just me, or does "Taste Of Love" sound like it was written for Steven Tyler to sing? I could very easily hear his voice on that song.

Guys I helped with some memorabillia for the recent Survivor re-issues on Rock Candy,I will mention this idea to them.It would be great to add Jimi's version of Ever Since The World Began from the movie Lock Up to this release in my opinion.

Yes, that would be awesome!

I would also love it if they would release on CD the two "Target" albums that Jimi did.

As was said in some of the posts above, it would be awesome if Rock Candy would remaster and reissue "When Love Comes Down" and the two "Target" albums.

I have no idea if they could obtain the rights to them or not, but if they could it would be awesome if they could tack on as bonus tracks Jimi's version of "Ever Since The World Began" and the original version of "I'm Always Here!"

Hopefully we will see the release of many of Jimi's previously unreleased songs, and remasters of some of the stuff that has been officially released.

It's a crime that the Target albums have never been released on CD.

I'm not sure either of those tracks would sit that well on the When Love Comes Down album to be honest; they have a completely different vibe. However, Ever Since The World Began has been in desperate need of a release of some kind for years now as it is almost impossible to track it down. At least I'm Always Here is available in its various forms on the Baywatch soundtrack CD and Jimi's Empires album.
One of the Target albums is available on iTunes, although bizarrely it is a recording made from vinyl! I have managed to download both Target albums now from a slightly dodgy website, but if that's the only way you can hear them then so be it. I would still buy the CDs if they were released. It's just a shame they weren't released whilst Jimi was still alive and able to benefit from them being out there. He did respond positively to questions on Reverbnation about this very subject actually.

I own both of the Target albums on vinyl, and I transferred them on to a CD-R. But I would love for them to be remastered.
Plus, if it was Rock Candy that were to reissue them, they usually have a good booklet with interviews. Maybe they'd be able to find some old interviews with Jimi that they could use, and maybe a new interview with one of the other members of the band?

Target recorded 3 albums, but the band was dropped by the label before the third one was released.

There was also a second D Beaver and Combinations album recorded that never came out.

And some Cobra songs that didn't make it on to the First Strike album.

There's a lot of unreleased stuff that Jimi was on that really needs to see the light of day!

yes DAVID I always thought TASTE OF LOVE could be a Def Leppard or Aerosmith song !......easily.......the chorus sounds like Def Leppard and the rest of the song is totally Aerosmith.

I actually sent rockcandy a email back on sept 10 and they said they would pass the information over to the one in charge of what re-issues are picked . They loved my suggestion but there is a lot of red tape involved . They all love Jimi over there so I would think there working on it . I did not ask about the Target albums , I have a feeling another company will get those out in the near future ...Love to hear "it's only love" on a real cd . Bonus tracks and remastering of 'when love comes down" would be super cool ! It would be amazing if they would release the full live album like they were suppose to , only 3 were included on the "Empires" cd .
