Right now there is tremendous excitement among Journey fans in anticipation to the release of their "Eclipse" album.
We Survivor fans are also looking very forward to the future release of solo albums by Jimi Jamison and Dave Bickler! And no doubt Jim Peterik will release another Pride Of Lions album relatively soon.

In the meantime, there's nothing from Frankie Sullivan's Survivor. Except maybe a promise of one new song that few of us believe will be heard anytime soon by very many of us, if ever?

For years Neal Schon did not get to have Journey Rock on their albums to the extent that he would have liked to, because Steve Perry and the record company wanted them to be commercially successful.

Neal no longer has to worry about Steve Perry or the record company, and he has Journey Rocking hard on their new album.

Survivor no longer have to worry about a record company dictating to them how hard they can Rock. And Sullivan now completely runs the show in Survivor.

Robin Mcauley is best suited for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

You would think that Frankie would be dying to put out a Hard Rocking, guitar packed album!

But I guess Survivor is nothing but a part-time hobby to him now???

You'd think if Robin McAuley could put out three albums with notorious pain in the ass Michael Schenker, he could get ONE out with Frankie Sullivan.

I don't think Robin's the problem? I just don't think that Frankie seems to be very motivated anymore?

I'm sure that Robin and Marc would love to be working more!

It's funny that Frankie made that remark about Peterik not seeing the value in Survivor, and then Frankie does nothing with the band.

Marc and Billy (I don't know very much about the current keyboardist) don't have the kind of money that Frankie does. I'm sure they would love to be recording and touring more with Survivor!

That was exactly my thought when I read Frankie's little rant.
It's a shame that Frankie was the one to get ownership of the name, since he clearly has no genuine interet in doing anything with it. I thought it was shabby when JJ released an album under the Survivor name, but hell, at least that showed some motivation/passion to keep Survivor alive. I wish Frankie had such motivation.

I was just going back over old threads. Damn why waste all that time recording new material! Hell FS even posted the stuff on facebook with videos! I just don't get it. I was reading old threads were JV was so excited about being involved with the new Survivor album. He was so involved with the sessions and said he couldn't wait for us to hear all the stuff. Then it appeared that FS cut communication with JV? Joe am I wrong here. I'm not stirring anything up, just following the threads on this board. It sounded like 7-8 tracks were recorded. FS even confirmed the name of the new album re-entry. I saw it on Facebook. And now NOTHING. ZERO. ZIP. NADA. I am the biggest FS defender, but I'm calling bs here. Fans deserve better than this nonsense! Quit keeping us in the friggin dark. We are some of the most loyal fans in the music business and deserve to be treated better. Now that I got that off my chest, I'm wondering if there is some legal reason why the songs haven't been released or if FS and company aren't willing to spend the money to get the project released because they haven't found a label. Thoughts anyone? I'm sick of this bullshit.

Well said....you are not incorrect, sullivan did, in a sense, cut off communication with joe. And he has done just what he is good at.....shitting all over people. Frankie Sullivan is out for 1 person....Frankie Sullivan and to hell with everyone and anyone else. The only reason he wanted the survivor name is for the same reason a spoiled brat wants a to play with a certain toy, not because he really wants it, but to prevent anyone else from playing with it. Good thing I don't know what I'm talking about when I've said all along that the guy is a fucking tool. Cause if i were right can you imagine how bad he would be?

This is the most action you will ever see from survivor from here on out.

Yep, I really think that's what it comes down to. And maybe also for the occasional live shows that he does, since I'm sure he knows that putting "Frankie Sullivan" on the marquee won't draw a crowd, whereas putting "Survivor" might get a handful of people to drop in, even if the band on stage is a far cry from the Survivor that people expect to see/hear, just like JJ was doing in the 90s. (funny thing is, if you put a bunch of casual fans at JJ's Survivor show and then at a FS's Survivor show, I'm guessing most of them would consider JJ's show to be the "real" one, since more people would recognize the vocalist than the guitarist or the drummer.)

By the way, does anyone know what Marc does with his time while he's waiting for Frankie to stop futzing around? Does he have other gigs or anything? He's too good a drummer to be wasting his time with this nonsense.

Guys and Girls....let me just tell you now....the stuff that I have heard both raw and complete will rock your collective asses off, but yet manages to stay melodic. Joe has a huge winner here believe me. Won't shock me at all to see this album get upwards of 99 or 100 from andrew. Looking forward to my copy of the completed thing.

My comments were not meant to be a personal attack on Frankie Sullivan at all. So I don't know why this thread is going there. Your feelings axe are well documented so much so they have become redundant. A one trick pony if you will. Yes i am excited about the new Mecca record. I have been for a very long time ever since JV announced it some years ago. I even got more excited when FS was part of the process.

I am not nor have I ever been part of the music business, so those of you, including axe, that are in the biz please help me answer the following questions as if I were five years old because some things just don't make any sense. Or as a good friend of mine says "that dog don't hunt." Here goes:

1. Why would FS and Survivor enlist JV's help on a new album and break off contact?
2. Why record new music and then not let it see the light of day? Aren't 7-8 new tracks recorded?
3. Why post videos of recording sessions on youtube?
4. Why announce to the world that a new album will be coming out?
5. Why say a new website is on the way?

This NOT a personal attack on Frankie Sullivan. I will say it again. However I think fans DESERVE to know WTF is going on. Don't we? What has transpired over the last year and half or so makes no sense whatsoever. And if someone calls me on being negative that is a cop out and utter bs. This is a fan wanting answers. Or are we just not worthy?

I'll answer them to the best of my ability, first off yes my feelings on frankie are well-documented as we all know.....here we go

#1...It seemed to be a good idea at the time. It has always been my feeling that frankie did it to spite Jim since Jim did the first Mecca album. So he wanted to do the new one, heard what Joe can do as a writer and decided to include him in the process. Then for some reason he bailed.

#2....Don't have any idea how many new tracks are done, but maybe the record deal that was never materialized, maybe the cost became to much, maybe the interest just isn't there from a label standpoint?

#3....Guessing that in this day of instant media, most if not all bands record such things, maybe it was posted because it was something new for the faithful, maybe a "tease" if u will.

#4....Again, maybe that was the intention but support in the form of a label wasn't what he expected. Sullivan may have more money than god, but he still is looking to make money. And less of his own he spends the better.

#5...Again sorry to beat the horse even more dead, but money again? Maybe this site he wants is going to cost more money than he's willing to spend out of his own pocket. And lets face it survivor isn't exactly raking in the money these days.

Hey Guys!!

Sunday afternoon in the studio....just checked online and ran across this today....

I have alot of strong feelings on this stuff...but, I don't know how appropriate it is for me to publically comment...a few of you know me well, and I am not going to go online and trash anybody...but, I was mentioned so I thought I would jump in...

As far as the "new" Survivor album it is only a "new" album if it ever comes out....FS told me that he was using most of the material we wrote together a few weeks back.....not that its a secret we wrote together so I am not breaking any confidences here....it was 7 or 8 tunes....have to check my logs...but they were great tunes that if recorded the way they were intended they will be vintage Survivor...but as with the production process songs can take a life of their own in the eyes of a producer...

I DO NOT think FS was involved in Mecca a few years back to irk JP, I think he dug the material and wanted to be involved....but thats as far as I will go online here....

I hope everybody has a great day!!!

JV you said : "FS told me that he was using most of the material we wrote together a few weeks back"

So I take it that his means as of few weeks ago (ie 2/3 weeks ago?) that the album is indeed not forgotten. Am I right?

Sad indeed. I made a plea for anything. Tell me to go to hell. I don't care. Just give me some friggin' answers. On a positive note, I want to applaud Journey/Survivor for making my morning. We should all applaud his excellent choice for an AVATAR! I think that is something we can all find agreement on for a change!

Joe....you must be talking about those tumberweedy things from the old John Wayne westerns, which coincidently was also the last time sullivan did anything survivor related that mattered.

Slander.....yup gotta agree with you love the avatar.

Joe.....Sorry I didn't make it out last night...didn't get back until later and she had to get up and go to work at 6am today. Doubt you needed my ears to mix it all, because what you sent me via the sampler sounded pretty solid to me...love the cover art for the album and can't wait to read my name in it......kidding!!! But seriously I do like the cover. Talk soon.

This album is the same guys on 90% of the tunes and we are planning on doing wayy more than just this album...Each guy is absolutely a monster player and great guys to boot...so Mecca 3 will commence shortly...and the offers have been coming in to play live and we may do a bit of that as well....

Projects are one off's....Bands are permanent.....as permanent as a band can be hahahha.....
