Rockin' Into The Night

I think the tune ROCKS! I know it was done by .38 Special but Survivor's version has more edge to it.

For info. Ultimate Survivor has the 256kb version, but I was able to dig out the 320kb one and that's the one to get!

Im a Marc Droubay drum sound fan through and through but really this one really smokes! Even the bass, the vocals (yes even Jim sounds fantastic let alone Dave's brilliance). Background vocals top class I must add.

Meanwhile, what are people's thoughts on RITN? I think whole tune is like the bridge of "Love is on my side"- "Walk on through the night, it's all just a game she plays so well...." My fav. Survivor bridge bar none!

What can I say about Frankie's soloing....purely uplifting!

maybe it's just me, and it has been a while since I heard it, but I thought the backing vocals on the Survivor version were cringeworthy. The rest of it sounded pretty good, but those backing vocals should have been re-recorded.

I wasn't aware that there is a version (By Survivor) other than the one that's on the Ultimate Survivor CD.

Gary Smith does some great drumming on RITTN. Frankie kicks ass on it.

I wouldn't refer to it's backing vocals as "cringeworthy" like Kgdjpubs does. But i can't claim to really like the backing vocals in the Survivor version. I prefer the backing vocals in the 38 Special version. I don't know if Frankie or Dave is hitting super high notes in the backing vocals on the Survivor version, or if they had a female vocalist blended in there with them? But it's a little too high pitched for my tastes.

Great song overall, however.

Love Is On My Side is an awesome song, too. Droubay ROCKS on it, as does Dave!

Gotta agree with you. Frankie slays this song. If .38 Special kept his guitars on the song it would have been a bigger hit, I think. I also agree with the background vocals - not the best but then it was never 'released' except on the Ultimate CD... I'd love to hear this polished with some stronger background vocals...

Yes. .38 Special's guitars seem to be lost in the mix (well not loud enough as you say).

With regards to polished ,hope you don't mean overproduced. Personally I like the rawness, organic sound.

Definitely not overproduced. I love the raw sound of the Survivor track - huge win over the .38 Special version. Was speaking only to the background vocals as they were the only part that seem to...demo-ish.

Got it. Im just super glad Survivor does have a version that was written specifically for them.

Huge win? AGREED!
