That's the baffling thing about this-- the material is already THERE. We know they had at least six finished songs with Robin, and I've read interviews where Frankie talks about having "hundreds of songs" lying around. Now even if we figure he's exaggerating and only has half-a-dozen songs lying around, that's still a total of 12 songs. They have a proper singer, so polish up those songs, record them, release them on iTunes if no record label is interested, get the fans interested, and THEN tour. This band really needs to hire a new manager.

I agree about the money, but you'd think as a creative person, he'd be glad to be able to have some NEW material to perform-- surely he gets sick of always having to play I Can't Hold Back and Eye Of The Tiger.
Besides, a new album might generate some new interest, which would get more people attending the shows, so it could lead to more money. I'm not delusional enough to think a new album would be knocking Adele off the charts or anything, but at least among the AOR crowd, it might make some waves.

How can you say it is a waste of money . In the USA probably but overseas there is a market for them.
Jimi seems to be a big star on his own now. I think Survivor will be his secondary job and continue to tour and make music with One Man's Trash .
He reclaimed his vocals. I still think Peterik's lyrics with that voice is the magic.
The live show has to be better than it used to be. Hopefully a longer set with more songs .
Like most bands maybe they should re-cut some of the old classics with the new band like Foreigner did.

To address a few points....
1 - The "new" tunes were written with Robin in mind....not JJ...at least the 6 I wrote with FS....and IF they are doing a new album with JJ then I believe the songwriting will take a different shape...and I will give my left arm to be part of that!!
2 - I believe JJ would make more money doing shows with Survivor...and that is a GREAT reason to come back....on ALL fronts....I am very happy they are reunited....
3 - JJ could sing the phone book and it sound like magic...and those lyrics you speak of are written by FS AND JP.....just saying....
4 - Your big star comment....well....JJ with Survivor is 30 times as big as JJ alone....he would tell you that....BUT.....he deserves to be back, and he is....Survivor is a WORLWIDE brand...
5 - I think there is ALOT of things happening that will floor you guys....be patient....you waited this long didn't you????!!!!
6 - 2012 will end up being a really good year for these guys....just watch...

I'm 33 yo, and I'm wondering what would be the attendees mean age when the band will show up at Lincoln, in a casino showroom? I understand it's a huge chunk of their fan base, but I again hope that with the movie coming out in summer the band would be able to play at summer festivals where younger audiences are (and I don't mean country fair or parking lots..)

What does Rock of Ages have to do with Survivor?
