Just spotted this in an interview with Brett Walker:
"-You've worked together with Jim Peterik earlier and you also auditioned for Survivor, tell us something about that?
Brett: "Yeah, I went and worked together with him (Peterik) for a week around '93 before I put out my first solo record, anyway, I don't even know this guy Frankie Sullivan (Survivor guitarist), but Jim who's a friend of mine flew me out to work with them. Jim knew what I had to bring to the picture, but I don't think Frankie Sullivan and me were getting along as maybe Jim thought we would. My idea for that was to bring my style into Survivor, like Bryan Adams, John Waite, more like a rootsy, folky thing to the band, and that's what Jim wanted, but Frankie wanted me up there (squeals)...Eye of the tiger! He wanted me doing that all day. That's all he was interested in, to see if I could hit those high notes like... I'm high on you! But I wasn't interested in trying to hit those notes, so that didn't work out, for me or them."
Interesting - I didn't realise it was Peterik pushing the band in the rootsy direction - I thought that was Frankie.
