European Tour 2013

Postby Mikele » Sat Feb 16, 2013 6:56 am

I would like to open this topic to discuss all-things related to the ones-in-a-lifetime European Tour 2013! And I mean, dates, updates, expectations, cancellations, updates, and then setlists, videos from audience and stuff!
You know, exactly like it was a proper tour!

So, apparently these are the dates so far:

21 April - Dordrecth, Netherlands

1 June - Inzell, Germany

2 June - St. Goarshausen

5 June - Solvesborg, Sweden Rock festival

Hope this time they really come to germany. Would be not the first time that they cancel it.
Still no dates on the webpage.

I do not know where this Dordrecht gig indicies from, but on The website of this location another concert is scheduled on this date.
I do not think that they already come to Europe more than one month before HiRock Festival/ Sweden Rock

I AM going to see them hopefully again At HiRock.

2 years ago they did not show up on Rock The Nations Festival At same location.

yes, the 21st April show appeared on songkick, I was waiting for someone to confirm me this. Playing on bills with Journey and Whitesnake could open more possibility for the band in european festivals. I think more dates will appear

So, for this first date in Germany, Survivor are schedule to play at 6.45pm, central euro time, just before the headliners of the day, which is Toto.
This is the best gig Survivor is taking part in since a long time, I'm pretty excited about how they will pull it off. And it's a tremendous opportunity to raise the bar

UPDATES:
So, first show of the Hi-Rock festival went on as scheduled...possibly the biggest crowd the band had in the last 10 years. here's waiting for the setlist which I'll post as soon as I see it.
But unfortunately, the second date of the festival had to be cancelled due to the extremely bad weather conditions. Sad for all the Survivor fans who have waited all these years in Europe.

Setlist from St. Goarshausen/Lorely:

Feels Like Love
Can't Give It Up
Take You On A Saturday
High On You
Rockin' Into The Night
It's The Singer Not The Song
Rebel Girl
Keyboard Solo (very strange, interrupted /ended by Marc)
The Search Is Over
I Can't Hold Back
Burning Heart (Full Version)
Eye Of The Tiger

No extended Guitar Solo of Frankie. Dave and Jimi were both great. Sometimes I thought the Band has problems to follow Frankie at the end of the Songs resp. they didn't know how he wanted to finish the songs but that's only my impression.

Was it a good gig? Absolutely! And we had more luck at The Loreley with the weather than the people in Inzell where the gig was canceled because of heavy rain and the flood.

Update for the Sweden Rock Festival:

Survivor is set to hit the stage tomorrow 6th June at 15.00 and are scheduled to play 75 min. On the bill on same day Kiss will be headliner, so a big audience is to be expected, although it will only be late afternoon.

This looks good...

One really silly, small complaint...I hate when the drums don't say "Survivor"....

probably the festival atmosphere and not having enough time to change out and re-mic the drum kits when you only have 15-20 minutes between sets. The other possibility is that the band just rented some gear as opposed to dealing with the travel expenses to ship everything overseas for just a couple of shows.

At Charlotte, the Survivor logo was present.

First pics from yesterday's gig at the Sweden Rock Festival:

note the "all-black" look of the band. Could this be a sign that they're now a more cohesive unit?

I won't lie...I like seeing them perform in front of a large crowd!

Would love to get a hold of a copy of the video they are showing on the 'jumbotron'...they had one at Charlotte as well.

Seems like it sure would be easy for FS and crew to be capturing some of this!
