Rod Stewart is a favorite of mine. He's still going strong and his concerts are affordable. I can't get over the radio play that his songs still get. His new material has garnered him a whole new generation of fans that probably never even heard of him when he made his early hits. One of the best, imo.

Of all those acts, Journey gets much more airplay than ANY of them, hands down. Also, notice they are playing to larger venues than most. I am telling you, with an ants' push of promotion, they could have actually sold out this tour...

The whole new generation of fans that I mentioned are the older generation who grew up with those songs as we did with Journey. Funny. The seniors I know think Rod can't carry a tune and never could.
An older friend of mine thought what Stewart did to "What a Wonderful World" while on the Tomight Show was tanatmount to sacrilege.

This is the first time I've ever seen actual attendance stats for Journey. I'd love to see this for the whole tour of 60+ dates...but for those 20 their average was 6,720

I'll have to back you up on this point... my mom has bought Rod's recent CDs of standards. Meanwhile, my head is exploding.... Mom + Rod Stewart... not a combination I'd have EVER imagined. He hasn't come through here on tour anytime recently (the closest was Fresno I think) but I'm keeping my eyes open and considering bringing Mom if he does come through. Of course, the idea of sitting at a Rod Stewart concert with my mom as he does HIS classic material has me in a dither -- I just can't imagine it.... LOL!

I like all of Rod's stuff and I respect him for adjusting to his age and finding something that people can love hearing him sing. His adaptation of the old standards brings new life to them, and they have brought new life to his career. It's a winwin.

When is Rod Stewart going to run out of old songs to sing!?!?!?! What is he on volume 39 right now? Geez, before this run is over he's going to be covering his OWN hits.

My observation has been the people snatching up RS records are the baby boomers who think it's in some ghastly way classy to butcher timeless songs like "Wonderful World." No doubt he has made some money though.
