Yea, dude. They're not crying in their beers over it. the goal of getting it into as many hands as possible has been accomplished. I think I read before, and I'm paraphrasing, that Neal wanted to have an official release this fall primarilly so that the die hards and those who could not get to a show could pick it up. The Sanctuary release was never to be about a billboard chart smash. I don't the band or label are disapointed or have lost money on the Sanc. deal. Maybe they would've been a little more upset if it didn't chart at all.

You know, I feel that both the band and Sanctuary knew going into this deal that a chart debut of lower top 200 would happen. They had to have factored in the giveaway siphining off some counter sales. There's no way Kalodner and JRNY did not go into this official release with eyes wide open, so it was probably something like "look we at Sanctuary will pick this album up and get it onto shelves nationwide. We help out a little with pushing airplay but given the fact that you gave these away already, we can't guarantee a lot of promo budget." I think the band and Sanctuary will both be content with the sales.

I doubt they even expected that.

Sanctuary was probably just happy to release something by Journey. Journey was probably happy to not have to release it on their own and have a label to distribute it for them. I doubt there was ANY money given for promotion by Sanctuary. I'd bet it was a break even deal by both sides, with Sanctuary hoping for a miracle.

That's why I wish we knew what the Universal deal was all about.

The push for charts and airplay should have started MONTHS ago...not now. It's too late for either.

I am obviously a big fan of Neal's, but I could care less about his personal life. I didn't even know anything about his marriages until recently. To me, that stuff is too "tabloidy" for me. I am into the music.

1) Who cares about Schon's personal life???

2) 7,190 is a joke no matter what. They may have expected low because of the giveaway, etc....but 7,190 is downright embarassing

How can Azoff have a band this popular and this talented and do nothing to let people know they're still making great music?

Maybe somebody showed him the money in exchange for sitting on his duff and looking the other way? Not a stretch in today's world.
