HOSTED NEWS WITH VH1’S RACHEL PERRY
WILL RIC OCASEK’S KIDS GET AN XBOX THE DAY AFTER NEXTERDAY?
Ric Ocasek is more than just the guy wrote hit songs for The Cars; he’s also a father of two young sons with his model-turned-wife Paulina Porizkova. And of course, at Christmastime, family comes first. (Actuality #1) “It really is more for children I think and I like the hope that children have when, you know, Christmas comes around. It sort of deters from what is really going on in the world.” Ric Ocasek’s kids are probably hoping to get an XBox or some doohickey like that this Christmas, but maybe Ric’ll hook ‘em up with a copy of his latest solo CD Nexterday. Actually, come to think of it, that would be pretty lame, and he’s a rock star after all… I'm betting on the XBox.
ROB HALFORD RISING IN THE EAST, TRAVELING WEST
Like all of us this holiday season, Rob Halford from Judas Priest will have to travel far and wide to be with his loved ones, but he says he’s happy do it. (Actuality #2) “I’ll probably spend a little time with my family in the U-K and then with friends out in Phoenix and in San Diego. So, much like everybody else, I’ll just be relaxing and just enjoying the season with family and friends.”Judas Priest has just wrapped up their 2005 world tour but you can grab their live DVD Rising in the East for your loved one; it’s in stores now.
JONATHAN CAIN’S ROCK STAR REGRET AT CHRISTMAS
Jonathan Cain of Journey always does a good Christmas deed and he is very active in his children’s lives. But this year he says there’s a downside to being a rock star. (Actuality #3) “This year, unfortunately, I usually do a Christmas concert with the elementary school my kids go to and I can’t be there this year, so they are all kind of sad. But next year, you know, I’ll get back to it. I kind of direct this whole thing and we make a CD, and the kids sing, I write songs for them to sing to their parents. At the show it’s all Christmas music you know and we do some of the standards and we have a really good time, and we have a really good time and that’s like my sort of way to give back to the community and say, you know, hey I’m hear let’s go to work. And it’s so fun to see the look on their little faces and my kids get into it.” Keep your ears here and your eyes on JourneyMusic.com for updates on Journey’s big plans for 2006.
