"...so inspired by that 'greatness'..."

Wrong choice of words: "greatness" is a major understatement.

I got the Houston DVD for Christmas.

Watched the whole thing about 2 hours ago; I have it on as "background" music as I type.

Oh my GOD.

I felt like that iconic "Memorex" ad: I was literally sitting in front of the tv, and felt like I was being "blown away" by what I was hearing and seeing....all I needed was the sunglasses.

All 5 of them were in "superhuman" form: After the first 3 songs, I was exhausted just WATCHING Steve sing and RUN AROUND !! LOL

I have come to the conclusion that in this era of time, Steve was a "thoroughbred singer": He placed himself at a "starting gate", if you will, and then just LET LOOSE - with everything he had. Now, while that makes him a very extraordinary singer and performer, IMO there's a "finite amount of time" alloted to keep that up.

And sorry to say, but I think that 's what haunts Steve to this day: that people are expecting "that kind of Steve Perry" in 2005. Hell, the majority of people can't do what HE DID - PERIOD!

Jeremy was right: This concert IS "lightning in a bottle"

Ya know, I think people would have much more realistic expectations if he had stayed in the public eye.

That's exactly right, Dave! In that way, people would've become used to the changes that took place over time - it wouldn't be such a shock. But, IMO Steve put himself into that "painted corner" - because of his perfectionism.

Just for the record, a thoroughbred doesn't leave the gate hauling ass; he or she, depending on characteristics, breeding, and points index, will run when their jockey tells them too. Some save their kick for the last 1/8..some are speed throughout, and never finish. A thoroghbred is built for distance, a quarter horse is speed ....ok, enough of that lesson....

I am glad you can watch it, I can't...Perry looks too goofy..However, there is no denying the sound of these guys..Best ever concert taped? Possibly.

...and what exactly was Perry's obsession with that ugly yellow leopard print shirt?

You're just now finding that out, let alone publicly admitting it?

Well, what did you look like :)

I know what I looked like - I was 2 years old, and running up and down a farm in the country. Oh those were the days... ;)

Um, I wore Levis, not so tight my balls suffucated either, like Perry did...Hockey jersey or a Journey T shirt, and shoes.

I wasn't wearing giant insect-like garb...

If you were 2 yrs old, I bet you had a runny duece in your drawers too...Hahahaha

I could handle the shirt back then, but I hated the sideburns!! They blended into his hair!! Glen Danzig did the same thing for a long time...
