Wow man, thanks so much for your compliments. Personally I cringe when I listen to it but that's just me. I know how I would have liked it to sound but like I said, my lady was very happy with it and that's what it's all about. I do love singing so I'll have to work up some originals and send them to you if I can carve out some time.

I think you did a great job. You definitely have a Steve Perry-sounding voice... I was really impressed! Nice job...more people than your wife will like this, I guarantee it. Next, I want to hear some of your originals!

Wow man, I just took a listen to some of your songs and have to say that I'm most impressed. I really like the feel of "Trinity". I like "Indecision" alot as well. Great chops!

"Seperate Ways" is to me by far the most difficult Journey song to sing. I thought it was just me but hearing others say that definitely confirms it for me. Steve definitely makes it sound easy. I'm not quite sure what it is, I think it's that he's singing that song with such power yet maintains such control over his voice. That's the thing about Perry, especially in his prime years, he was a master of vocal control and this song is a prime example of it. He managed to add a rockier edge to his vocal tone yet at the same time maintain that classic Perry composure with the soaring vibrato, etc. Good stuff!

Personally I'd love to cover the song but do it with the same vibe that Jon Cain did in his Journey medley. It's a really lovely song when it's stripped down to it's basic piano melody. You definitely get a better feel for the overall emotion of the song. It would have been cool if Steve and Jon had recorded an alternate version.

Hat's off to Steve Perry for making it seem so easy!

:D

Shadow:
I know what you mean! That song SEPARATE WAYS is a VERY VERY DIFFICULT song to pull off. I didn't realize it until I tried recording it myself. The operative word is TRY! It was then that I realized Perry sings his ass off on it, and he makes it sound so easy... but that's not the case!

And I think that is one of Augie's best tunes. Jaws drop when people hear him sing it live for the first time.

Thanks for the props on my music. I think I agree with you on what you said about Steve above, particularly on SEPARATE WAYS. There is definitely some power about his voice on that one. But he's using as much control over the vocal chords as Neal Schon does over his guitar strings! That song, I'm starting to think, is really a coming together of the best of what the band has to offer... and thankfully, it was captured in the studio just perfectly.

And damn, I just tried recording it again tonight, and I still CAN'T quite pull it off!
