"With Your Love" or "Lifetime of Dreams"

Let's face facts here, people.
These songs sound practically the same, or at least the way both songs open sound eerily similar (the conspicuous sonic closeness isn't helped by the fact that both similar tracks are sequenced one right after another).
With that said, minute differences do exist between the songs, enough so that I can actually make a preference between them.

I prefer "Lifetime of Dreams".

Don't ask me why.
I could make the case that the lyrics are .00000001% less ham fistedly gay, but why bother.

Lifetime of Dreams for me, mostly because it includes a different sound for Journey. It comes in on the second half of the first verse and again throughout the second verse, maybe a mellotron(sp?).

I'll take lesser of 2 evils and go with WYL. Actually got some airplay on some AC stations around me when they put it out as a single in 8/01....played at my wedding in a shameless Arrival plug by me...and I genrally enjoy the song, balladwise.

Note, that I do prefer Neal's guitars on LOD slighlty especailly the wawas at the end.

Couldn't disagree with TNC more about the lyric gayness. Anytime "baby" is repeated over and over in chorus nowadays, it speaks to some bankruptcy in the lyrical ideas area. And it makes songs downright cheesy.

Nah, I like both. I'm a ballad wuss, and both are great. I picked With Your Love. My wife and I's wedding first dance song.

So there! :P

I think they are both good songs. It seems to me they both sound like they are morphed versions of "When You Love a Woman"...I think they were trying too hard to get on radio at that point in time.

Yes, or JDK and Kevin Shirley were trying to push them to sound like what they think Journey is.

Yeah, but somebody had to write that crap, NMT.
