Journey | Def Leppard Tour Dates

Postby Jeremey » Tue Mar 28, 2006 11:00 pm

While I was never a HUGE fan of Def Leppard, it doesn't surprise me to see them closing every show, despite this being a "co-headlining" show. Interesting to see there's a much larger concentration of shows in the southeast this time around (Raleigh, Charlotte, a couple Virginia dates)...In fact, Journey is playing northern Virginia the same night we are (July 7th)....So NIG, does this mean you'll miss our show again this summer!? Since they are the openers, I'll try to rally our show as an "after party" or something...Actually, our crowd at Clarendon Grill is usually 90% yuppies who live within walking distance of the club, 10% die hard Journey fans, so there shouldn't be much impact on our show.

Anyone surprised to see the Leps closing every show? Also, I'm glad Journey is getting into some of the larger venues this summer. A co-headliner like this is really the only way either one of these acts could make an impact at a 22,000 seat venue...Might be able to make a show this year, but they're still at least 3 hours from us in any direction.

Hmmm... Is there a Washington or Baltimore date? I would like to go to this show, but I do want to see your band, Jeremey.... decisions, decisions...

Journey is the opener? You wouldn't think so if you judged by the mr.com message boards! :P

The northern VA date is actually Nissan Pavilion, a 22,000 seat shed in Bristow (Manassas)...This is the kind of venue that Dave Matthews, Tim McGraw, Jimmy Buffet etc sell out....Kind of surprised to see them going into a place like this. Will be interesting to see ticket prices. Of course I'm a much bigger fan of Journey than Def Leppard, but I think DL may have more drawing power at this point, seeing as Journey's been through most of these markets ever summer since 1999.

Journey has played this venue previously, either with Foreigner or Frampton/Waite, I don't recall which at the moment.

Jeremey, Journey wanted to open. I found this out. Interesting? Yep. No late nights, same money.

Also, DL is stronger in the Southeast than Journey, as Journey is stronger on the west coast.

There will be more added dates. There is no way Los Angeles gets snubbed. Probably waiting on NHL/NBA schedules to come out, so they can book arenas.
