No, I don't know Jimmy personally....wouldn't want to. He is a paraody of his former self and his last album sucked so hard...

However, his Freight Train Heart album is more or less, Journey with Barnes on vocals. Now that's killer...

And the Working Class Man album is seriously super too...

I always thought Barnes sounded like John Fogerty not Jrny.
Good Times, an INXS track where Barnes guests is flat out bad ass.....Lost Boyz sdtk and then the "Shine Like It Does" anthology but I digress...
"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990

I just listened to Jimmy Barnes for the first time, and I think his voice sounds exactly like James Christian from House of Lords. Do you hear it, Andrew?

If Jon's synth piano sound was replaced with the grand. I think the change in Jon's sound was the element that made BE sound less like Journey, musically speaking, than it might have.

Nice topic. :)

I was thinking of "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" by Yes...Journey could have written that for the ROR album. However, I am not so sure Neal would kick himself for not writing it.LOL
I could see Journey being pissed that they didn`t wrote Boston`s "More Than A Feeling"...
Oh,and maybe "All Out Of Love" by Air Supply.Talking about Australian hot acts. 8)

"Missing You" - John Waite.

"No mattah - what I might say...Ah ain't missin' you..."

Y'know, if you look at the 80s, it seemed like EVERYone was trying to "Journey-ize" their music, in some way, shape, or form...

JMHO, of course...

Ok,maybe they`re not so hot,but that song is nice.I`m sure it would have sounded better with a bit of Journey`s salt and pepper. :)

Nope. There is NO song by Air Supply that could be Journey....2 completely different acts altogether...

That being said, Air Supply has sung some pretty nice songs....'Making Love Out of Nothing At All' was sublime, IMO....but again, that was Jim Steinman working his magic....

Well, I'll add an LRB and a Farnham song:
Forever Blue
Please Don't Ask Me

Perry would have been awesome singing those in his prime.

Songs Journey should've recorded:

1)Eye of the Tiger
2)Star Pilots of Uranus
3)Children of the Sun

Just to name a few..

Oh, and 'Billy, Don't Be A Hero'.

Whoah, haven't heard that one in a while. It used to VERY popular here.

I don't think it has a Journey sound at all though...I always thought it would be a good Styx song.

I know many will think that "Hugo" is a Journey clone but the song "If You're Ever Lonley" really has the Journey stamp on it. :?

Two things. One, Air Supply doesnt suck, they're just too mellow.

"Sweet Dreams" is a damned good song though, and if any of 'em could ever be Journey, it's that. More guitar to it than their norm.

I finally thought of one for real though.

Ten - "Till the End of Time"

For those saying "who the hell are Ten" you need to read Andrew's reviews more.

Great song off their worst album (Spellbound)...take the song as is, make the piano a little more prominent than the acoustic or 12-string or whatever it is in the mix there, and it's a Journey ballad. Soaring Faithfully-like finale, plenty of Perry-style WOAH-oo-OHs in there though Gary Hughes sounds nothing like Perry.

Lyrically may be a little TOO sappy, but just a little, and that can be fixed. And it's not even like the 20th best Ten song.

Never heard the song and want to? PM me your email addy.

Tesla's 'Love Song' or Triumph's 'Magic Power' are a couple of songs that would of fit nicely into the Journey catalog.
