SINCE 1998

Since 1998 how many different bands has Journey played with??

I can think of Foreigner,Styx, REO, plus the different festivals and all of those bands( who were some of them ??) , now Def Leppard....

My big question is do you think Tommy Shaw, maybe JY,Kevin Cronin or ANY of the other members of ALL of these different bands knew Steve A. and Journey were corking??? Maybe it will be Def Leppard that will spill the beans on em this summer. Ya never know!!

Crap, as much as Kevin likes to talk I would figure it would be him that would 'out' Journey and their little secret.

Not a single person has blown the whistle on their 'illegal' concert enhancing activities. You would think someone, a roadie, a guitar tech, a jealous member of another band etc... would blow the whistle on em.

Maybe they only cork when they play their long set with no warmup band.

Better be careful Journey, Steve Perry may have an axe to grind someday!!!

Or... better yet............. Maybe they dont cork at all.

I thought Andrew clearly said no more topics on this.
Maybe you just missed the 5 or so other threads on the debunking
Journey topics.

Yogi, good question.

I have seen them close festivals with a bunch of different acts.

Arrow Rock 93 show in Irvine, CA. Eddie Money, who looks like he escaped prison, followed by Cheap Trick, who were decent, but looked like someone started a grass fire on Robin Zanders grill and tried to extinguish it with a pitchfork; next up was Lou Gramm and if that dude were to come out in a purple suit, I would have thought it was the Grimace from McDonalds fame. ..you know that giant purple milkshake eatin' motherfucker? Then I was excited to anticipate Yes, but this was the worst Goddamned show I have ever seen. There were people leaving during their set, and I swear I saw thousands of people snoozing in their seats. Journey was last and they were best. And yes, they were 100% live this night. This was back in 2002 I believe.

They were tight. best song of the night. "To Be Alive Again." I have this boot, and it is quite good.

Honestly,I don't believe Journey resorted to tapes since 1998.They did it only when some serious problems occured. No band would ever do this unless it’s forced to.In Journey’s case it’s obvious: Augeri has major voice problems but he can’t be replaced just like that.Maybe he is under a contract,or maybe it’s a managerial decision concerning the fanbase which would diminish if Augeri would be replaced with someone other than Perry.(IMHO)

Usually, bands and their crews are very tight. No one from the crew would risk blowing the wistle on "Mom" who puts the food on the table for them.Well, maybe some could have got drunk one night and spilled some inside beans...But that's not proof.
I still believe the evidence is here, under our noses,as they were already offered.

I also saw them in Las Vagas in 2001 at a festival called Junefest.

Check this bill out.

Up first were those monsters of southern rock, Molly Hatchet. OMG. These guys scared the Hell out of me. I swear one of the guys was eyin' my daughter! Who was only 13. Their family tree definetely didn't branch.

Next was that powerhouse band Night Ranger. Horrible. At this time, there was maybe 5,000 people on the grounds. yawn.

The big attraction was next. Billy Squire  Christ. He should shoot himself as soon as he gets a chance. Dude plays his all time best song, "Everybody Loves You" --acoustical. OMFG. Forgettable.

Bad Company took the stage, and were as good as Journey. Definetely as good. Paul Rodgers was amazing.

Styx was next, and their show was just flat. They did manage to get women to undress their upper halves. my 11 yr old son at the time saw his first rack. I high fived him on that one.

Journey was last, and they waited for darkness. I can remember the giant swirling lights that shined up into the sky..There were two of them, one on each side of the stage. We were right in the path of air traffic. every plane that came in saw the show. Journey and Bad Co were the best.

I am embarrassed to say Journey toured with Jon Waite. Jesus, can he be more effiminate?

Peter Frampton was cool though.

Thanks for the good laughs,Dean! :D God knows we all need them.
You should open an "I was there" thread -- now that would be a good read!

Why? No one would believe me anyway. Even with stills and running tape I would be called a liar. No thanks.

I am thinking that the use of tape may have become prevalent last year while they were playing 3.5 hour shows by themselves. And they also toured on their own the end of the year before. I think Deano has said that Steve started sounding pretty bad on the Main Event Tour . But I am not sure where Deano has said the use of tape began. And he has said that is was somewhat gradual, like only the end of Faithfully to begin with.

I NEVER said Dean was lying. I just have a REALLY hard time believeing it, and I just dont have the ear to hear it for myself. I HONESTLY dont know what to listen for that would give it away.

I know it happens, and it happens often. Kenny Loggins did it back at the Minnesota State Fair in 80 something.

I just find it hard to believe Journey would. They are too powerful, have too much to lose if they get caught, and nobody that is really in the know has ever said boo about it.

Look, Yogi, I liked the thread. I really didn't want to go into the falsification thing again, but alas, here we are.

yogi wrote:They are too powerful, have too much to lose if they get caught, and nobody that is really in the know has ever said boo about it.

This is why they can do it. They are too powerful. Look at the problem I am having. The majority of fans are so blind, it doesn't matter. It's like trying to defeat the NY Yankees with a T Ball team. They can just deny, deny deny. Like TNC says, you might get a fist in the mouth (literally) when you least suspect it. I wouldn't put it past these assholes to get me.

Now-
The lipping began in 2003 on the Main Event tour and faithfully was the song that it was used on..No biggie. THAT to me wa enhancement. This is where the dichotomy between myself and the dissenters occur. To me, 90% of a song is not backing tape, nor just enhancement. It is full out fakery.

As far as other bands "outing" Journey? Good good question. Last year was the first year was the first Journey only tour. Makes sense doesn't it? I believe they started lipping full time unabashedly until the 4th or 5th concert of the tour. But yeah, it makes sense they wouldn't lip with other bands in tow. Now as far as Def Leppard ratting them out? Haha, they can't. They are as bad if not worse than Journey. They are the kings at fakery. What a Great tour this be!

HIT THE TAPE!
