My Thoughts Tonight As To Why...

Postby piecesofeight » Tue Jun 20, 2006 12:32 pm

...this has become such a big deal..online..for now.
One of the first things that came to my mind when all of this started, and why it would be such a big deal to some who are so passionate about this band.
We are talking about a guy who took over for what some consider one of the best AOR voices ever, if not one of the best in music.
Granted, many people who attend concerts do not visit these sort of forums.
Don't get me wrong, it's not as if many would be upset to hear that any of their bands were doing this, but this is a guy who not only may be one of the best replacements ever for a lead singer, but sounded a lot like the original.
To find out that this guy, who really sounded so much like the original lead singer, has been doing this, it's kind of kreepy..

Not my idea of why it has any importance at all. I've never seen much comparison in Augeri's voice with Perry's. Two tenors, totally different styles and skill levels. Journey was a real band, started by real musicians...real GREAT musicians, not a bunch of basement hacks. They set standards for excellence that not many other bands could touch. I would be disappointed to an extent I don't want to get into if this is as full blown as it appears to be. If you can't sing for any reason, get off the stage, get out of the studio (didn't somebody else just say that?) Give your voice a rest and take some time with your family maybe. Or go do something else that works better with your range, like Tall Stories. I don't want this to be true, but if it turns out that way, I hope they've got sense to deal with it quickly and honestly.

I never meant to imply that he sounded just like Perry. I just think it was one of the best replacements, like it or not, as far as the fact that we all thought this guy could sing.
If we found out that a lead singer who couldn't sing that well was lip sincing, would we care as much?
I really want to hear, to the die hard true Journey fans who are upset or let down. Is it just the overall thing of what's going on, or come to find out that maybe this guy is not as good as you were lead to believe?

THANK YOU for calmly stating what I could not! LOL

Yup; I did....but I threw in a "naughty word" for good measure.
