Ok.So some of you say that it really doesn't matter how a singer holds the microphone...Really? I believe the position of the mic is essential for the vocal delivery.
More,a singer rarely changes his style. Some of them like to swallow the mic,but hey,so are the songs...not really demanding. It's not Augeri's case.
He has to sing complex vocal lines, low notes followed by high-pitched ones and from what I saw he always takes away the mic from his mouth when he hits a high note.
But what am I saying?

Better let's see the changes, shall we?

Augery's style in 2004:(notice the foam thingy in the 1st pic?Still,he doesn't glue his mouth to it)

Now here's the new thing (2006 Sweden):

What's really interesting,to say the least,is,just like Svante said, that among all these (hundreds) of pics taken that night (each in a *mere second*),
you can't see ONE where his mouth shows while singing.Yea,we can see his mouth during Neal's solos or when he holds down the mic,but everything else is a non-stop glued-to-the-mouth-mic style.
No,he is not just touching that foam with his lips,he literally kisses it.
Personally,I really don't believe that Augeri could sing out the words in a clear manner with his lips pressed up so hard.No way.

Then,Miss Nora Tragianese, who is not a photographer but a pro singer,
says that no singer can perform a song in such an inappropriate technical manner and some of you say it's BS.Oh,LOL!
But we are talking about how singers perform live which probably was not the case in Sweden.

Again,I'm not saying that these pics are 100% proof of SA lipping, but let's be honest here...
He changed his style,he hides his mouth and he is accused of miming the songs.Kinda fishy,eh?

One more thing
Same night, same stage, funny how Jeff Healey doesn't need a protected mic...Maybe the wind stopped exactly when he was singing.Riiiight.

Btw,Monker, your girl in the pics might've been lip-synching and you didn't even knew it.

I think you're safe so long as you're not using the images for commerical purposes. I really don't think posting a picture on an obscure message board is going to get anyone in trouble.

Yeah, well, Augeri could have been singing in the pics posted, and you would never believe it anyway. So, what's the point in arguing with you about it?

The bottom line is that these are just pictures...Not something able to put into context for evidence of 'lip-synching', which BTW Svantes does not claim Augeri was doing, unless he has changed his mind and doesn't believe he was singing at all.

And this mic thing, sure, the pop screen may be used to hide his mouth, but it also may be used for what it is designed for.

I was thinking of that wind screen too. And how SA at Sweden Rock kept that mic pushed flat to his face throughout the show. Then I was watching the 2001 dvd last night. No windscreen and he is moving his mic away from the mouth sometimes when he sings louder, like all good singers who knows how to work a mic. In fact, his default use of the mic on that video is to keep the mic an inch or so away from the mouth. You pretty much always see his mouth.

I understand what you mean but as they're playing outside, with wind and other noise to deal with, it would make sense to have a bigger windscreen.

I sing and play guitar myself, and always sing with the mic right on my lips most of the time (and occasionally crack my front teeth because of this doh!), so I don't see the windscreen to be an issue, although given the context, maybe it is !

Just my tuppence...

NO singer can sing properly with the mic GLUED to his lips! He would sound like "sjow nhjow I cjwome to yjou wijth ophjen armjs"...
Any professional singer could confirm this!

CONFIRMED!!!... never have I seen anyone suck a microphone like that
during any kind of live performance...

I think maybe he might be doing the fireworks show at the end of the night...:)

...that are all about 100 pixels and compressed to nothingness. Again, I say... best picture they had.

HERE YOU GO. It's right there in the first ten seconds. Microphones prove nothing.

First 10 seconds show Dave using the Guitar-Voicebox, which requires talking or singing into a tube, which you can clearly see coming out of the right-had side of his mouth.

So yeah - he HAD to be on top of the mic!

Peter Frampton used the same thing:

"Do you feeeeeeeeel.....like I dooooooooo....that's alright..that's alright, alright!"

Just saw the video for Lights/Stay Awhile on VH1 Classic and Perry does a good job at some points at eating the mike and it didnnt have the wind screen. Just an observation
