To The Folk Who Were At The UK Gigs

Particularly in the rows further forward, but as long as you were at the gigs..

1. Did you see/hear anything from the performance that would indicate miming?

2. Did he sound okay to you or was he rough on some songs?

3. Did Steve talk in between singing?

1: Nothing i saw or heard made me think miming was going on.

2: Again i never thought his vocal changed a great deal between songs.

3: Yes he did talk between and during songs(during the sing-a-long bits)

The fact i went to the gig (Manchester) before i read about this is he/isnt he stuff i wasnt really looking for anything out the ordinary, some songs sounded slightly better than others, but that was all to do with the crowd singing and the atmosphere etc etc. We did remark however that Dean sounded better than Steve when he sang, that was noticable.

wow when the drummer sounds better then the lead man that just isn't right!!

I was at all 3 UK gigs 7th row in Edinburgh, 4th row in Manchester

1 No there was no sign that he was miming
2 Yep he sounded good, his performance was perfect in every way
3 Only when he was getting the crowd to join in the singing

wow when the drummer sounds better then the lead man that just isn't right!!

Yeah, this was discussed on the way back from the gig.I wonder if a drummer could actually sing a whole set to that standard while drumming throughout. I know Phil Collins had Chester Thompson drumming with him in Genesis so he could nip on and off the drum kit.

I was in 3rd row at Edinburgh and front row (elbows on stage) at Manchester. In addition I had a photo pass, so I had a camera with telephoto lens trained on various members of the band, including Steve Augeri, for extended periods. At no time did I see or hear anything to suggest miming. I had heard about the runours so I was watching closely.

SA sounded fine throughout the entire show. There were occasional rough patches, most notably when his radio mike transmitter played up on one song - or it could have been his monitor because he moved to another part of the stage and recovered.

There were occasions when his voice was drowned out by the sheer volume of the audience, and when he stopped singing and spoke to the audience during some songs.

Many fans and seasoned concertgoers as well as cynical journalists came away from those shows describing them as among the best they'd seen and heard on these shores.

The allegation, as I understand it, was never that he was not singing. It was reported by the Swedish crew that recorded it for radio that he was singing, but it was not in the mix going out to the house. So, yes, you would have SEEN him singing, but heard a recording, according to those that had access to the vocals from their soundboard.

I was at the Edinburgh gig

He struggled to get heard above the crowd but he definitely added some banter at the beginning and end of the songs, but in all fairness to him the crowd was bouncing that night!
As for Mr Drummer his voice was amazing and at one point I'd swear SP had jumped into his skin!
Would like to hear them again next year but at Glasgow SECC

I'm undecided on the whole issue, perhaps as punishment (if it's proven) he should be sent to American Idol and put to the public vote!!

The main thing is they came, got a great reception in Europe, so at the end of the day the Journey bandwagon rolls on and so it should.
