Thanks to Augeri, but.....

I feel so bad for Steve Augeri. Without him there would have been no new music, and no tours for the last 10 years or so.

Arrival is a fantastic album that got no recognition. It rates for me right up there with almost anything the band had done. Is it derivative of their earlier works? Hell yeah! That's why I love that disc. LOL

What is happening now sucks and I hate it. I didn't believe it at first, but I have much of the same sources that Deano has if not more.

Anyway, I agree that the band needs to address this. However, I think S.A. still deserves major credit for keeping Journey around.

Face it, we are all old. Even if Steve Perry had never left, no one would care amymore. In my opinion even if he came back now (please sing Steve) it would be a one shot pop, and no one would care afterwards.

Even with all that has happened recently, whatever side of the fence you are on, it is good to see people care about good music.

Steve Augeri, my thanks to you for helping to keep this band around and adding some great music to the catalog. You have been an outstanding vocalist and done very well in an almost impossible situation. If it's time to stop, that is ok. You did a great job overall. My wife and I thank you for "With Your Love" and our first dance as a married couple.

it's your opinion and at least it didn't bring on any fights... nothing to be worried about.

I preferred them before he came to light, but I accepted it for keeping the band going. But then eventually it got old. Touring without singing the newer stuff turned me off.

Fair enough. :)

I loved Arrival, but did not like Red 13 or Generations all that much. Better than Trial By Fire but so what? However I was very happy to get new Journey music in any case. Thanks for responding!

If Neal had not hired SA, It would have been someone else. At the time it was a good fit. I agree that Arrival is a pretty good record, but After Sony gave Journey the boot, It was over.

Steve A put in a lot of good years and a lot of good shows, but the writing is on the wall. IMO Neal has failed to manage this band. Sad to see what they have become.

no problem, I liked some stuff from Arrival, I even liked a very few off of Generations. But I also think that Generations was perhaps one of their worst planned and exectuted CD's.

I never spent the money on Red 13, because quite frankly $6 for 4 songs wasn't worth it, when I already had one of them. I honestly don't know that the other 3 sound like (though I might have heard at one time a minute long clip, but not sure). Plus I didn't have to pay for Generations outright, recieving it at the concert last year.

Very true. Second favorite Journey cd (behind Escape). Arrival is up there too. Red is good, but the production doesn't have that Journey kick to it, sad, since the songs are good.
But I haven't given up on this lineup of the bad. I will see them in concert in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it too. I think the band needs a year off, release a cd next fall or winter, and tour.-ERIC

Actually, Sony still approached Journey for another CD but journey said "No". So really, Journey cut Sony not the other way around. Sadly the effects are the same...no label, no support, no promotion, no management, no leadership....

I am in 100% agreement. Good CD (still rank it very high) but definately could have been so much better!

I think you have your head on straight, arrivalrules. I also prefer to think of all of the years of enjoyment Journey has given me, esp. the last 8 years. Nice to see a positive thread for a change.

Exactly. I think the net has good and bad points for bands etc.

Yeah it gets more people into them and talking, but on the other hand it also causes trouble like the problems we're having here right now. This really has gone on too long and the band needs to put a stop to it either way.

Neal doesn't manage anything. There is just as much blame over on the red piano as there is directed at the guitarist.

why wouldn't this board be here? There are boards all over the net that are about bands from days gone by.

Without Journey in the last 8 years, it MIGHT be more enjoyable and less arguing, but somewhere somehow, there'd be a Journey board here, I suspect.

LOL! You think there wasn't any arguing back before 1998? There has ALWAYS been factions in contention.

How cool (albeit VERY unrealistic) would this be. Can Augeri and Cain and get back Rolie and Perry. Actually, do a new album with Cain, as his chemistry with Perry and Schon IS awesome, then can him. He lies so fuckin' much and is such a phony it makes me sick. Herbie Herbert was right about him.
