Yep...and I'd be saying the same thing. The fact is, I haven't heard a SINGLE show of this quality where Augeri sucks...They are ALL crappy recordings where I think almost ALL voices suck.

I'm not sure about when those few tracks were recorded but he started writing those songs, according to the liner notes in "Greatest Hits + 5 Unreleased", in '88.

You are exactly right. Sony refused to release it and FTLOSM was released later....Everybody knows that - Perry said it. Perry took time off after ROR and started writing/recording again in 1988. Years off from singing? Ha, what a bunch of crap.

The Against the Wall stuff was done 5 years before the Bill Graham concert, and FTLOSM was done 3 years after…

Augeri once did an admirable job, though I’ve always preferred him singing his songs. (Thought Deen should do a few of the oldies, but let the bulk of the songs be with Augeri singing from Arrival on.)
But his versions now are painful to listen to.

Perry definitely had some bad performances, but there have been some great more recent performances as well. His voice is different from the 80’s, and you may not like it. But it’s not shot.

Augeri’s voice is shot. Hopefully not irreversibly.

These are fairly short downloads.

Hey genius, your sentence says in 91 he was in the midst of recording ATW..

ATW sessions were circa 88, you dont have to be rocket scientist to know the difference between 88 and 91...!

Oh, so you're saying he'd been using his voice in between 88 and 91...?? He sent you an e-mail back then to tell you that...??

You're full of BS assumptions, monker...

You know, it would be nice if people didn't just assume I am assuming anything.

In a Perry interview from 1995, taling about the FTLOSM album, the quotes are from Perry:

During the years SP has been working with several people whose tunes aren't on the album. Old writing partner Randy Goodrum ("1988-89 some time, one of the first people I wrote and recorded with since I started to come back to music again"), super hit maker Mark Spiro ("I love some of the songs we made the summer 1992"), ex Baby-drummer Tony Brock ("we worked 1991-92 some time"), Alice Cooper's first guitarist Dick Wagner ("we wrote 2 songs 1992"), Peter Collins ("he produced for a while 1991-92 but it didn't work out as good as with Jimbo Barton") and Extreme-guitarist Nuno Bettencourt ("one of the songs - "Always" - is absolutely wonderful").

So, Mr. Assumption. Explain why Perry said he was writing, recording, and producing songs in 1991-1992 if, according to you, he wasn't.

When the fuck did I say that...?

I simply 'implied' that he had not been singing prior to the tribute show from 1988.

Can't tell the difference..?

Yeah, that dumbestsonofabitchmorondipshit award is so important. I keep trying, but like a Forest Gump wanna be, I keep making posts that nobody can refute. Oh, well, there's always next year.

When I listened to that "Faithfully"/DSB that was posted, my first thought was, "This still sounds better then the Bill Graham Tribute"...

And, Perry screws up the words on this one. Funny how you guys don't look at this as a disaster.

You're fuckin' kidding, right..??

BETTER than the Bill Graham Tribute...???

Perry came unprepared, unrehearsed, been off the road for years, and still sang in pitch, albeit a couple of keys lower...

You seem to enjoy dissin' Perry....

I still can't believe you actually said Faithfully/DSB sounds better than the Bill Graham show....

A "couple keys lower"? LOL...he sounds HORRIBLE, too low, a scratchy voice, and he screwed up the lyrics. You all make excuse after excuse for this, but the fact is that this is a RADIO SHOW where you could CLEARLY hear how fucked up Perry's voice was...compared to a bootleg where it is hard to hear anything significant.

The bottom line is, yeah, I'd rather hear the Augeri version then this crap that isn't even ATTEMPTED in the correct key, with the wrong words, and a scratchy, hairball voice.

"The Augeri version?" Get real. Perry sang that song in alower key because it was a somber event asshole. If you like karaoke go to the local tavern. That's all Journey has been for 8 years. Deano put an end to that, and God bless him. Steve Augeri has always been a shitty singer. Hence, he was cleaning toilets at The Gap. The guy's a fraud. Fuck you Monker and him too.

You're taking the p*ss!

I'm a HUGE Steve perry fan but I'm not blind to his ailments.

He sang it in a lower key becuase he lost his range. End of....!

I have it on excellent authority from a well known 'bay area' musician (and friend of the band) that Perry could not sing the songs in their original keys anymore.... and this affected not only this performance, but the chances of him being able to do so in the future on any sort of tour. No surprise he didn't tour TBF then....
