What is your take?

http://www.journeymusic.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/030991.html (This is yet another sappy thread that reeks of syrupy sentimentality.)

So, do you think Augeri is hoping attendance will drop off - "Humph, that'll show them". I can certainly see bitterness creep into the picture - especially if he was fired instead of quitting. I would still like to know the whole story behind the tapes.

I don't care how nice a guy you are, you always want to know you will be missed when you are gone.

I hope Journey's success is stellar with JSS. I always thought Augeri was too "soft". I am looking forward to a harder Journey sound. I just hope Soto can smooth his voice for the material. If so, I will be the first to buy a studio album with this line-up if it happens.

However, I think this might be the last we hear of Journey.

This brings something else to mind...

If you are an Augeri Head, do you support Journey for going on without him? Can you embrace Soto as the new lead singer?

This is an honest question.

Good post. I agree with some points. Sure, I think he would want to be missed. I truly do not believe he would want the band hurt in any way, especially after giving his last 8 plus years to them. Regardless of what may have happened, having known how nice and sincere he truly is, he would only want the best for Journey. His inner turmoil I cannot fathom right now. I'm sure he is crushed, and filled with many emotions. I think JSS may be a fresh beginning for Journey, especially touring with DL. It will be 160 min. of pure rock. I think he will put fire in the rest of this band as well. Something a little more up tempo and different, ya know? As far as the end of Journey, I really don't think so. Hopefully they will find a new spark here. Until I hear otherwise, I must believe Steve is gone from Journey. God bless him and his family.

I'm not a hardcore or self-proclaimed "Augeri head" but I am not happy with SA leaving, and I'm also not happy that he was not able to make a statement himself or even say goodbye. So I'll go to the shows I already bought tickets for and may stop supporting them after this tour if JSS is really in for good.

Sappy thread indeed. I about gagged. LOL... It's all "Fluff" over there. I am sure Steve is not thinking that way right now. I think you are more correct with wanting to be missed. I think the Band has the wool pulled over everyone's eyes.

Well on this tour it's a moot point with Def Leppard as headliner and primary draw. However, I doubt Augeri is going to wish them ill will. The band did give him a career after all.

Journey on.

I am a fan of the songs first and foremost. Happy to hear them performed well by any vocalist. Augeri served the band very well for a long time. It's a shame it ended badly, for sure. I hate seeing the potshots being taken at him. The way some talk, you think he bombed a church or blew up a school bus.

Yes the band (him included) made a very bad decision over the last year or so. For me it doesn't erase what he brought to the band. Time will eventually erase the bad taste of how things ended. In the end, Journey has 3 albums and a DVD that the fans would never have had in large part because of him. Otherwise we'd all still be wondering when the follow up to Trial By Fire was going to come - which was never.

Time for a new start, and I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing what Jeff Scott Soto will bring to the band!

Unless it was totally Augeri's decision to leave the road while Journey continues the tour, I have to question this decision. Could Augeri stay on the tour and simply play rhythm guitar? He did that last year for much of the first set on the 30th Anniversary tour.

I know that Journey never had the same success with Steve Augeri as they did with Steve Perry, but come on - I have to think they sold more than three albums with him??

Ditto. Although I did not purchase tix for the show at DTE in Michigan. I did not want to fork over the money for one band (Journey). HOWEVER, I will go and get a ticket NOW to see how good or bad JSS does.

I am not "sweating it" like some people might. A good friend of mine FINALLY admitted to me that he enjoys SA's Journey material was is really jazzed about seeing them. I've yet to inform him of SA's depature, and JSS's capture. (Lame I know).

I neither like or hate the curent (former) SA fronted Journey, I just enjoyed it.
Oww. My aching tentacles.

I hope Steve Augeri is feeling better soon, so he can come back to Journey! That is all I am feeling. I am not excited at all about JSS singing for them. I hope it is very temporary. His voice is very different than Perry or Augeri.

That is pretty much how I feel. But I am willing to give him a chance to prove me wrong. This will be interesting to say the least.
