Will Deen still sing three of four tunes?

Postby SF-Dano » Sat Jul 08, 2006 9:19 am

I really hope that Deen continues to sing lead a few tunes in concert. As was said way back when, he is the secret weapon. Looking forward to giving JSS a try, but I hope they still reserve some tunes for Deen to sing. 8)

Apparantly Deen did not sing any lead at Bristow...good move really. Put the focus on the lead singer! ;)

As the tour rolls on if JSS needs a breather Deen will sing again, I predict.
Luckily for Soto, Journey's alloted playing time is limited this tour.
But, if Journey should tour on their own Deen will prolly be back in full force!

I'm with you on this. Its a complete shame that Journey's new singer is already having to sit it out whilst Deen sings 'x' amount of songs (no matter how well).
JSS is the singer and frontman for a reason. His vocal abilities are why he was hired in the first place so to have Deen sing any songs especially at this stage is a bit of a slap in the face.

Put it this way, if Hugo, Kevin Chalfant or Jeremy had taken the gig would Deen still be singing lead...what if Steve Perry returned? Absolutely not because they have a similar tone in thier voices. It bugs me that JSS with his admittedly different vocal abilities is being sidelined already because Deen can do the songs more like Perry/Augeri. IMO that's not necessarily a good thing at this stage.

I see your point. Deen singing a couple tunes during the show and reminding everyone of Perry may not be a good thing for Soto. But it would be such a shame to waste Deen's singing talents.

I hope Deen does continue to sing a couple of songs in the set. He has a great voice and it just goes to further demonstrate the talent of the band members....

He also fills out the vocal sound admirably....

I wish they'd rotate him on ABL and NTL and then 1 of the classics.

I'm with you 100% on that. If JSS is going to be the frontman I think he should sing the songs that were initially sung by the Journey frontman. If the pitch is too high for him, simply lower it. I don't think it has to be all about the high notes. If they want to give him a break let Deen and Jon sing the songs that they recorded.
