Nothing is worse than that.

 Why? What tour was it from?

RE: the BGTY....I hear some struggle, not too bad but I wonder if it may be b/c he's trying to cover it like Augeri used to or Perry sang it instead of JSS. I mean, he sounds more Journeyesque than I've ever heard him sound. JSS' singing voice just seems simply deeper than Augeri's so keep it that way.

This can and probably will be remedied... he's still figuring it out a little to an extent how he's comfortable covering them.

This is not good. Funny thing is I'm really starting to dig a lot of Jeff's work with Talisman. This Journey thing isn't happening for me though. That's just my opinion. I will still go check a show out though.

He is really straining here. This can not be good for his voice.
what the hell is that ???????????????come on thats got to be some kind of joke right?oh please tell me right...lmao wow thats a rough nite for jss

Jeeeeeeezzzzzuuuussssss !!

Boy o boy.... not gon say too much..as Im gon give the guy more time to get "into his stride" ..but hes gonna burn the pipes real bad doin that.... I cant believe that an experienced singer wld even try and go for notes he knows he cant hit.. Jeff please "re arrange" the melody slightly.... Im hurtin for the guy... hope it gets better!

Okay, I'm gonna say this once and for all. Get this guy the hell away from these songs before he ruins his voice permanently.

JSS is an awesome singer. He shouldn't be putting himself thru this. I know they're ina tight spot and he's being far more of a trooper than he should be. But Christ that BGTY is painful.

JGal:

'Swhat we DO here, baby. Lean on that panic button and HARD!

I agree w/ you. The guy's a pro and will probably be seemless by the end of this month.

The guy is a pro that is established. Will he rag his voice out like it sounds he already has? That's to be seen. If you listen, it is quite obvious he doesn't have the vocal range to sing these songs. I have heard the 2 boots and seen it in person as well. It is undeniably painful for the audience and the vocalist. The end of the month reallly shouldn't matter, he is just not a good fit for this catalog.

TOTALLY constricted in the throat....that's where his sound & vocal support is coming from....

....which is the WORST THING YOU CAN DO!!

Absolutely NO LOWER TONES....he needs to "belt" from the abdomen...keep it in the same key, but have the support come from the abs.

It's a lot like on a stereo equalizer: bringing more of a "bass tone" into the sound.

PLEASE Jeff....get some training on this NOW....

I've heard the Atlanta boot and the Be Good To Yourself clip that was posted a few days ago. I can't get the Charlotte boot to download for some reason... I get this funky flac.torrent file. I know what flac is, but not torrent...?
Anyway, I've heard about 2 hours of him and ON THOSE RECORDINGS he is being WAY WAY too hard on his voice. Harder than Augeri or Perry ever was. If this guy wants to be singing after the tour or even half way through it, he'd better get some help with his voice because he's using it COMPLETELY wrong. It sounds like controlled (or barely controlled) shouting. There's NO headvoice being used from what I can hear. It's all in his chest which is the wrong way to sing that kind of stuff. He won't last the tour at this rate. I hope (yeah, yeah, I know) Augeri comes back so that JSS doesn't have to last the tour. Sorry, but I like the guy and his pipes. Great singer.
Also, one thing I've noticed is that JSS never goes for a lower note. He goes for the high notes and instead of hitting them, he (AGAIN, IN THE RECORDINGS I'VE HEARD) completely misses the mark. That tells me that he's not real int touch with his voice. A singer KNOWS when they won't be able to make a note (usually) before they go for it. He might want to take a lesson from live Freddie Mercury and avoid the higher notes by singing those down a 3rd or something. The way it's going now sounds terrible. Cain could probably sing as well. Yeah, it's my opinion...

Sounds like the voice of reason calling. He may be used to singing these songs, but not it a concert environment with this band. He knows the expectations are going to be different than with SS.

He seems to be getting worse instead of better since Tampa. Why wont the guys in the band do something? Neil is his friend, does'nt he care about peoples voices? or just $ and getting through this tour.
