Anyone here into driving, restoring, or just admiring classic cars and trucks?

I'm a huge car nut, love the old iron. Hit the big car shows several times a year plus any small ones in the area. Currently driving a Buick Electra... whatcha got?

when i was young i bought an '82 trans am , black and gold, the new body style, it was kit car!! 2 throddle body injectors, looked like 2 windex bottles squirtin,, chicks dug on it,, i decided i wanted one last year, just like i had when i was young , color and all,, if you can find them they were going for over 15k!! i couldnt believe it ,, even thats a classic now i guess,, i was thinking more like 2k ,, i could buy 8 les pauls for 15k!! just nuts

Some nice stuff there... we were looking into getting a Ram Air Firebird recently, but the seller was right proud of his car pricewise. I had a Bonneville for a short time, wanted a GTO a friend had but the rust was too far gone.

The Electra has a 455 and it is a gas-sucking pig. But it will eat the road and spit out chunks!

Red '68 Mustang convertible, standard white ragtop. Yup that puppy's got a BIG old 200hp Straight six in it. I can climb INSIDE the hood compartment and work on it myself. It's a speedster. hehehe Top speed 96 in cold weather and top down, heat blasting. Oh yeah.

One day when I get money, I'm gonna have an brand new Mustang underneath with a classic Mustang body. Best of both worlds.

yeah and to think I picked my '68 up for $1800 cash. Not saying how much I've spent on it since then though.

I love the new retro looking Mustangs, would love to get one, but not spending $50,000 even on the best car ever made by Ford.

A new LX is a lot cheaper, but you'd be right back to the 6-cylinder base model.

I drove a new LX convertible not long ago. For everyday highway cruising, it doesn't need a V8. That thing had balls!

Iron? Dude, "iron" is a reference to the "Iron Horse." Trains. But hey, it's cool, I love cars. Used to have a 72 Corvette..Stingray, big motor. 454..

You don't know how much I would love to have a '72 Stingray! Daaaaaamn. The last thing I drove with a 454 in it was a Chevy truck.

LOVE your avatar, Jabberwocky!! My sister has a '94 Mustang and a '65 Mustang that she is fixing up.

My dad had a '68 Pymouth Satellite custom made the year before he got married. Royal blue, white leather interior, white top, grain wood dash and three on the tree. I loved that car SOOO much, but it rusted out before I could drive it. :cry:

I'd love to have it and fix it up now.

This is a cool thread ! I like reading about all of you and what kind of classic cars you have/had.

Now my first car wouldn't be considered a classic except for maybe some diehard fans of the cars. I received a 1961 Rambler Amercian after I graduated from High School. It was an automatic, in which you had to go thru the forward gears to find reverse ( the automaker changed that by 62-63 models), and the passenger seat lowered down to make a bed of sorts if you wanted to sleep in it ( now I can just see what your minds are thinking now ! LOLOL ! :lol:

). I also had a 63 Rambler American for a short time, then I bought an early '60's Mercury Comet. I had the column shift taken out and put on the floor. It was an ok car. Then I bought a AMC Gremlin ( I know, I am strange to have alot of AMC-Rambler cars, but hey, I can be a bit odd). Somewhere along the line I bought a Cutlass. That car lasted me a long time. And the last "classic" car I owned was a 1978 Chevrolet Nova. Not a little one, a big one !

Whew, that brought back memories !

My husband is currently restoring a 1972 Mustang convertible. He's completely rebuilt the engine (351 Cleveland mean anything to anyone, 'cause I know nothing of engines). Now he's busy with the interior.

This is the car the day he bought it.

There seems to be about half a dozen people here who are ignoring Andrew's requests...and plainly just not interested in keeping this forum "clean and informed" they quite clearly are just "taking the piss" out of Andrew..and have no respect for his wishes at all .....

It all makes for pretty pathetic reading, from an "outsiders" point of view.. I think a few have lost the plot here.... the place needs to be "cleansed" of the detritus, .. (I think the word "morons, was used..how apt..as the standard of post here is pretty moronic) and needs to be rebuilt
