Listen to this from the FLOTSM boot:

"Intro":

Now, tell me in all honesty....

If you just happened upon this somewhere, and you heard a voice singing NOTHING but "oh"s...

....would you know it was Steve? Immediately?

File says no longer available, but to answer your question yes. And I find that true with most of my favorite singers. Him, DeYoung, Paul Stanley, Halford, Delp. Some of the more anonymous-raspy singers not so much. I don't know if I could tell young Rod Stewart from 80's Hagar, but usually...yes.

Or Sam Cooke. It's actually Sam Cooke's signature sound that Steve(s)... borrowed. That whole (Whoa-oh-ooh-oh-whoa) stuff is ALL Cooke's. Listen to ANY Sam Cooke song and you'll hear it. Perry's the second coming of Cooke. I believe his family even said a similar deal.
A LOT of Perry's signature sound is his vibrato as well. That's all his own.

I hear the Cooke comparisons and where he borrowed, but to me, Perry's voice is much much more dynamic. Cooke's stylings are only a small part.

Y'know...after listening to that...and yes I know there's a lot of "crowd noise" and such...

But Steve should get into "atmospheric" background music for TV and Movies....that'd be cool....
