Neal and Jon were the reason Journey didn't remain stagnant for another decade.
If they didn't pick Augeri, they would've picked Chalfant or someone else.
Augeri is just a lucky shmoe, and he, most of all, knows this.

After TBF, Neal was determined to bring back the band, if only to prove to Perry that Journey was bigger than one man.

Yup, I'll give the guy a chance and that's why I've listened to the boots out there.
So far, I can't give him a thumbs up. While he does have more power than Augeri,
his pitch isn't there and he's struggling to hit those notes. I've heard from somebody
about 50 friggin times that JSS was really tired and after the 2 week break, he'll blow me away.

Well, Deano has told us that boots are 100% raw, exactly how a band sounds live. So I hope there are some good ones soon. I am giving JSS the benefit of the doubt about needing rest.

I'm still waiting to hear something from JSS that blows me away. I just don't think that it will be with a cover. It's just not his style. He's trying to sing songs that Perry sang with his own style....something that can't be replicated or enhanced. JSS is gonna have to win over fans with some kick ass original music. I just don't know if Journey can take that chance. He just doesn't sound good enough on the Dirty Dozen to keep people coming back year after year. And like it or not Journey makes money touring. While I think he is a MUCH better person, singer and artist than Augeri, I think he's even farther away than Augeri in replicating the original sound. And that is something concert goers will want in order to keep coming back.

Neal is cool and he is definitely at the top of the game for what he does. He is the master and just continues to improve at his craft. I respect the hell out of that. However, it doesn't mean he's any less culpable than the other guys and any more deserving of forgiveness. I'm willing to give the guy another chance. I just hope they don't let me down again.
