Hi all, I don't think this is the song he helped them with. I just posted it so we could see him :D I am starting to wonder if that is Steve's new uniform or something. Why black? He needs color in his life to motivate him. :?

Hey, LL...

This is the description to the right of the video: "Waiting for No One" is the song:

"The soldiers are in LA and this is their first day of recording at Hollywood Sound in Hollywood, CA for their new songs. Steve Perry of Journey fame, who co-wrote the song "Waiting for No One"(Ballad) on their CD So Many Musicians to Kill, stopped by to hang out. And some other cool things happened. Check it out, it was a crazy day."

Why black? He needs color in his life to motivate him. :?

I agree with you....doesn't he know he's a FOX in RED??

That was a ballad?
Yikes,

"Waiting For No One"
Translate into

Sounds like
Nothing To Wait For

Sorry, but I am really disappointed in this wreckless performance
I just played it & Angel agrees
It made him scream & he says even he sings better than that chicken scratch voice....

To tell you the truth
the simple repetative chord changes are catchy
but that monotone pitchless voice borders on ear splitting madness

I'm beggin you
Save some dignity
Jump off that ship before it goes down.
Talk to Andrew
Better yet
Tell me....help me to understand
As my simple mind fails me.
Maybe that's the point
Music that means nothing
So don;t think about it too long
As the moment will be gone...

He’s past mid-life, what gives? Is there a connection with any of the band members? … for beers and pizza, I think he’s there for the younger ladies. Reliving the early years with groupies I think.

I saw that description too. :? Well I found their website but it is under construction so I am looking at this Wilkipedia thing but so far no mention SP on it. Anyone see anything in there that might explain why he likes them? I doubt he is managing anyone. Maybe he is there for support?

Steve needs to seriously rethink his woredrobe I am starting to think he's gone goth on us.

I think he's hiding his figure until he emerges as the new and improved version=soon I hope. He doesn't want anyone getting a glimpse. I for one cannot wait to see what he's got under there-he's probably been lifting weights, drinking protein smoothies and doing major ab work...right?

remember in the movie "Trading Places" when Mortimer bets his brother $1 that he can make Eddie Murphy into a successful person, maybe he's doing this with this band...maybe its some sort of quest-cause they sort of suck.

Why...
Simple answer

Because he can...

Don;t think he prescribes to rules
It kills the creativity
I do understand as it is true
But that guys voice
Just sends you through the roof
Every dog has its bone
but there is not enough talent between to fill a spoon
Just because you throw in this n that
Doesn;t mean it makes good soup

Oooh, what's he hiding you say
Let's have a lil peek
Just a lil taste
to wet the imagination

Guess all this talk has made me hungry
and all I got is crackers
NO SOUP

Stevie want a cracker...

Shaking your hard..what?

Obviously Espee is hearing what others do not. It's awful! Is he in search of a sweet young thing or youthful angst or has he lost it all together.

Of course it's his choice but it just doesn't look too good! Older man; young puking rockers! EEEEWWWW! He must know somebody in that band; cause otherwise it's just WRONG!

He's an adult
He knows what he's doing & if not it;s his mistake to make
I don;t think he cares anymore how it looks
It;s his life & if it pleases him
than the heck with reason
I think he has always thought with his heart
but his hard head always rules
& in the end you lose anyway
so why not get on life and enjoy the ride.

Personally I don;t know what he sees with the company of
rockers who have this warped image of the disipline it takes to get ahead in the music world.
Perhaps one of them is a friends kid or something
& he is taking the time to nurture them hoping they grow up
These guys are a garage band without a garage.
He well knows the paths these youths are on
and he also knows there's nothing to do but let them fall & puke enough til they get tired of it or it kills them.

He sees something
maybe a little of himself
& wanting to help
but that singers voice
I'm sorry
Not all the beer in the world could make him sound better

The man is shroud in a plethora of mystery.
I pride myself in being non judgemental
& I fall guilty by the ax of my own hand

Truth is, I hate to see such a deep song
butchered by that guys voice
It leaves me sad

The voice does not do the song justice
Such a shame
but it;s not my call to make

The guys voice is radioactive
Sounds like something left over after an nuclear fallout
I hear ashes burning in emptiness
I hear a soul at the end of it's last breath
So maybe the voice in it's ugliness afterall does paint the song well

Wait a second...SP co-wrote that song they are singing or is it another one? The immediate reaction to that singer's voice I got ranked right up there with my whinning kids. Did SP take leave of his senses?

I'm also not impressed with what they did to DSB at the end...please tell me Steve wasn't feeding them the lines - he would have to know this was being videotaped for myspace, right? Don't mean to sound like a prude, but c'mon this is a special song & I probably wouldn't mind so much if SP the man himself who made it special wasn't involved!?

It was apparent someone was feeding the lines to the girl
who was feeding that other monotone singer...

Once you got past the bad singing
I thought the parody of DSB was kind of funny...

The whole thing just seems to show
his disillusionment with the music industry.
He's toying with it
Keeping it around him
but not expecting anythiing.

He's waiting for nothing
Like this song
Just living his life without pressure
of this is the way it should sound
this line is too dark
we want more of this
He's found a stable ship
& he's sailing every sweet wind

It tells me the desire will always be there
but the emotional aspects of the industry for him have gone flat
He's fought for his music
He;s paid the dues
Now if something comes of something it comes
and if not then that's ok too.

I think that monotonous voice
may have a deeper meaning then even he realizes
Or maybe if he read this he would shake his head thinking
What the heck was that?

Can't deny it can't stop thinking these few seconds on a blog
and now this f'n song is stuck in my head...

Steve's line
"Now the drinking starts"
denotes a tinge of disapproval
I guess that was Oliver who worshipped the bucket later
Apparently that room has no toilet
or why else would he be carrying it out in a bucket
Then he gets on the couch with his dirty feet
guess they have no shower either...

The studio did have a frig & microwave
thought that was odd
What was the pool table doing in there
guess it serves as a bed

Just some guys living for the music
4 minutes in the life of the starving musician

You deserve it
Great Find!

Sure we were a little hard on Steve
But we care for him & in our own way try to look out for him.
But he is a big boy & he has my respect even if I don't understand.
Everything he lends himself to is important in it's own way.

I have to admit
Steve sure looks good in that blog
Anytime, aanywhere or anyway
It;s always a pleasure to see him!
